Summary: That loathsome woman has a most unfortunate habit of being an uninvited visitor.
Delicately dipping his brush into blue ink, Byakuya checked off a long list of items from his page. With winter nearly at its end, it was imperative to ensure that there were sufficient resources to bring the Hell Butterflies through this barren time.
Placing the finished page aside he lay down his brush and capped the four bottles of coloured ink before him. Renji's trend of colour-coding the various categories of paperwork had lingered on after the man's departure from the vice-captain's seat. Byakuya had found it quite unorthodox at first and had resisted the change (particularly in his own files), but time had proven the effectiveness of the method. Would be that he would find another Fukutaichou like Renji. (But perhaps less hot-headed. And impulsive. And fatuous. And...)
Taking a deep breath of the warm spring breeze coming in through the window left ajar he steepled his fingers to stretch them. Turning slightly he could see the trees outside and eyed them critically. The sakura would bloom early if the weather continued to be this mild. Well, it would at most be only another nine days until first blossom anyways.
Turning back to his work he reached out to pull another document to him and froze, his blue eyes narrowing to glare at the black cat on the desk. The reiatsu was skilfully hidden but there was no mistaking that this was Shihouin Yoruichi. Damn her, appearing so suddenly. Pulling back his hand he weaved the fingers together and settled his hands on the desktop. There was no point in stating the obvious fact that she had returned and he did not wish to bother asking why she was there, so he settled for simply looking at her. A shame that ignoring her would not make her go away.
