Characters: Kotetsu Isane, Unohana Retsu
When: January 16, afternoon
Where: Fourth Division offices
Rating: PG
Summary: The exhausted senior officers of the Fourth Division take a few moments for themselves. Anyone who tries to interrupt does so at his own peril.

Things had still not slowed down at the Fourth.

Even though that was the case, Unohana shucked off her haori as she entered the office, determined to have a bit of rest. She'd just had to perform some heroic measures on a patient in the hopes of saving his life. Thankfully, she had succeeded, but even so she needed a breather.

Most people saw her being utterly composed, no situation causing her to have so much as a hair out of place. It was a false assumption, of course; she was as prone to exhaustion as anyone. But the idea seemed to give people comfort, and she did nothing to consciously dissuade it. That did not mean that she would go to untold lengths to avoid showing any sign of weariness, though.

She smiled at Isane, though, who was currently filling out a stack of forms at her desk. Isane had been at least as hard at work as she herself had been, perhaps even more so. Such was the nature of their duties in a time of crisis.

"I see you have managed to have a break from the patients themselves," she said lightly. "Though the paperwork seems to have dragged you under, now."

If Unohana needed rest, then surely Isane needed it just as badly.
