The first thing Renji was going to do when he saw Pesche was put his foot in the damn antlion's ass. What the hell was he trying to pull? Nel had said that the two of them were dead--why would they allow for here to honestly believe she had killed them? Surely they weren't intelligent enough to have a clever ploy behind this...and even if they did by some miracle actually have a plan in mind, Renji couldn't figure to what end. Especially since Pesche had made that loud, public post on the network--if Nel heard it, what would happen then?

He was going to give him an extra boot in the ass for eating one of Kira's men. It was one thing for the Arrancar to eat Hollows, but Pesche knew Shinigami, and should have known better than to fucking eat one. Kira had lost more than enough as it was; he didn't need to lose any more men. Kira moved along quietly as Renji set off, caught in his own contemplation no matter how hard he tried to concentrate on his surroundings. Two Shinigami in Hueco Mundo were bound to draw attention to himself, and his hand curled around the handle of Wabisuke, reassuring himself with the feel of it even though he knew perfectly well that the sword was useless now, especially if they got attacked by something of Adjhuchas level or higher.

"It's not your fault, Abarai-kun," he said, and the words went unsaid that it was, if not Renji's fault, his own fault instead.

"If I were a better Captain, none of this would have happened," he finally said, voicing his struggling thoughts. He had done this, and though he hadn't physically eaten the man, it was his responsibility to look after him and he'd failed.

Heedless to Pesche's efforts (or discomfort), Renji scowled at Kira as he went off on another one of his self-deprecation parties, and he stopped walking a moment, putting his hands firmly on his hips.

"Well. There you go then," he said sternly, shaking his had and staring at Kira's back as the other captain moved ahead of him. "That's what it a~ll boils down to, ain't it. If only you didn't suck at being a captain, Kira, then all our problems would be solved--are you even hearing yourself?" A click of his tongue and Renji lifted one hand, waving it in the air. "Golly gee, Kira, it's really a fuckin' shame you're the only one who's a little overwhelmed by the way his responsibilities just received a violent shove into serious. It's just ridiculous that you're the only one who's fucked up a couple times. I can't believe that you, and only you, are actually having some issues swallowing the pill of captaincy ( ... )
