What is UP with the internet today? Slow day, people?
So, I went to see my sister yesterday, because she needed a babysitter for her baby (nine months, Jesus H Criminy, they grow fast) and got home late last night. And then I had a lecture early this morning (yeugh) about the internet habits of children and young adults. This lecture was hella interesting actually, even if the guy giving it was in his late thirties and kept making a distinction between "us", meaning teachers, and "them", meaning the kids of today. I found this an uncomfortable distinction to make, because I am still the "them", I am, like, the very first wave of the MySpace generation, and at the same time, I'm also a part of the "us", since teaching is going to be my profession and things move forward faster than I will be able to wrap my head around.
In addition, this week's assignment involves checking out this popular MySpace-ish site called Lunarstorm. I'm kind of cranky about this, mostly because I haven't had a Lunar account since I was fourteen (for a month), and the things they do to the Swedish language there... let me put it like this, the acceleration force and energy of August Strindberg rolling in his grave could power New York. There are so many things I could say about this, but all of my answers would pretty much boil down to HELL NO. Sorry, my linguistic snobbery is showing again.
It's pretty strange all around to be studying this, and see everything from the other end of the spectrum. I mean I know how I reacted when I was in high school, but now I get to see everything from the point of view of an adult and a teacher. Pretty fucking odd, my friends. Pretty fucking odd.
Anyway, nevermind, I have one last reminder for
this little game of mine. One last chance of playing before I post the answers. Well, if you still want to try yourself, the post'll still be there, but I'll probably post the answers this weekend.
Speaking of, shit and fucking hell, I really don't want to work tomorrow. Crap.
