Current Characters in Route: Just good ol' Phoenix.
Character
Name: Phoenix Wright
Series: Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban)
Timeline: Immediately following 1-5, i.e. post first game/prior second game.
Canon Resource Links: Welp, you can see the entry on him at the Ace Attorney Wiki
here. There's also the
C-R entry about him, as well.
Affiliation: Trainer.
Personality: Phoenix is, generally, the Only Sane Man. He somehow always maintains a pseudo-serious outlook on things, even while surrounded by eccentric assistants and idiotic clods of witnesses. He takes hardships in stride, although in the somewhat resigned manner of someone that's accepted the fact that this is, after all, kind of his job. He has that annoying tendency to never, ever give up, no matter how grim things may look for him, even if he's accepted that things will probably not end well (although they tend to anyway. Lucky bastard.). Phoenix is the type of fundamentally kind person who looks out for his friends and believes in them with utmost certainty, no matter what others may have to say about aforementioned friends. He tries to look for the good in everyone, although towards those who have wronged him or someone he cares about, he tends to be very black-and-white. Phoenix also tends to become attached to people easily, and often relies on friends and mentors for advice and moral support when he isn't sure of what he's supposed to do next.
While Phoenix can come across as being rather thick at times, in actuality, he's quite clever and has at least a little above average level of intelligence. While this skill of his is a bit unpolished towards things he's never experienced before (he tends to fumble over his words a lot, poor thing), as he grows more confident in his abilities, it becomes more apparently obvious that he's not as dumb as he looks. (For example, you can see a great increase in his confidence as he progresses throughout his court cases in-game.) He's been known to have spectacular leaps of logic when under pressure, and his sudden brain blasts, while oftentimes completely off-the-wall and ridiculous, are actually correct a good percentage of the time. This creative way of thinking may be caused by the fact he first planned to become an artist before switching his major to prelaw.
The fact that he's usually the only level-headed one around has led Phoenix to having quite the sarcastic streak, although he mostly keeps it to himself. He will hold a grudge against anyone that has betrayed him, and despises killers who use poison as a method of getting the job done. He views both of these actions as being cowardly, and Phoenix does not take kindly to cowards. After all, he always tries to trust in people until the very end, which would make an act of betrayal cut him like a knife, considering that he's...really, he's just an honest person, and expects others to be the same way.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
-His tenacity. He will never, ever give up. It has the tendency to annoy people.
-His quick-thinking. It's gotten him out of plenty of sticky situations before, and it will certainly be helpful in the world of Pokemon.
-His ability to stay mostly positive even in the worst of situations. This ties in to his perseverance, but I thought it was worth due mention.
-He's quite the handy poker player. Not sure how that will apply here.
-His honest, fundamentally kind nature. People find him easy to trust.
Weaknesses:
-...however, people also have the tendency to think he's unreliable. Poor Phoenix.
-His ease of trust. He can be a bit naiive in that respect, and he can be tricked somewhateasily. He won't take too kindly to this, however.
-He's terrified of thunder and heights. He can brave them if he has to, but in the case of thunder, he will do so very, very poorly. He's not good at hiding his fear.
-He tends to speak before thinking about what exactly it is that he's saying.
-He catches colds quite easily.
Pokemon (Last Updated: 31 December 2010)
In-Party:
Butch the Quagsire (Starter) (♂)
Lv. 60 (2/5 levels gained this week) | Jolly nature | Ability: Water Absorb (Restores HP if hit by a Water-type move)
[ Water Gun | Tail Whip | Mud Sport | Mud Shot | Slam | Mud Bomb | Amnesia | Yawn | Earthquake | Rain Dance ]
• Phoenix's ever jovial starter Pokemon, Butch constantly has a (derpy) smile on his face and does his best to keep his super srs trainer in good spirits. He evolved during the conclusion of the nightmare event, and was the second of his Pokemon to do so. Butch is good friends with Kay's Wooper, Flapper, and has (unknowingly to Phoenix) bonded with Kisame's Quagsire, Nuru.
Recently, Butch and Flapper mated; their five children were given to
notaforger ,
miniworth ,
bakaitoukid ,
guyyoucantrust (DROPPED), and
The Eleventh Doctor. Lady the Furret (♀)
Lv. 60 (0/5 levels gained this week) | Sassy nature | Ability: Keen Eye (Accuracy cannot be lowered)
[ Scratch | Foresight | Defense Curl | Quick Attack | Fury Swipes | Helping Hand | Follow Me | Slam | Rest | Sucker Punch | Amnesia ]
• Lady is, by far, the most mature and sensible of Phoenix's team -- and loves to embarass her trainer by recording his many misadventures on his Pokegear for all the world to see. Being his second Pokemon, though, he has a special fondess for her that can't be dampened by her mischevious ways, and was alos the first of his Pokemon to evolve. Lady and Butch usually don't get along well, due to jealousy issues/personality clashes. He caught her after Butch knocked her out, when the wild Sentret stole Phoenix's attorney's badge. She has a habit of crawling up Phoenix's back and riding on his shoulders.
Mia the Mareep (♀)
Lv. 40 (0/5 levels gained this week) | Gentle Nature | Ability: Static (Sometimes paralyzes the opponent upon physical contact)
[ Tackle | Growl | Thundershock | Thunder Wave | Cotton Spore | Charge | Discharge ]
• The most affectionate of Phoenix's Pokémon, Mia is an incredibly fat Mareep whose body size is completely unproportional to her height, since she also happens to be much smaller than your average Mareep, When she walks, she waddles, and can't move very fast -- and since Phoenix likes to let his Pokémon walk beside him whenever possible, this tends to lengthen their travelling time. A lot. When he's in a hurry, though, Phoenix gladly carries Mia instead, much to Lady's chargrin. So far, Mia has refused to evolve, but Phoenix doesn't really mind.
Sirius the Growlithe (♂) (Former trainer: Apollo Justice)
Lv. 29 (0/5 levels gained this week) | Brave Nature | Ability: Flash Fire (Raises Attack if his by a Fire-type move, recieves no damage from Fire-type moves)
[ Bite | Roar | Leer | Ember ] • Sirus was Apollo's starter Pokémon, and after the lawyer disappeared, the dog made his way to Phoenix with the help of his Pidgeot, Pidge. The Growlithe is incredibly loyal to his new Trainer, and if he thinks someone is threatening Phoenix, he will attack even if his new Trainer tells him not to. To everyone else, though, Sirius is perfectly friendly, if but much calmer than your usual Growlithe, and if he sees your hand, he will immediately worm his way underneath it in hopes of earning a head pat.
Trick Dog "T.D." the Electrike (♂)
Lv. 17 (0/5 levels gained this week) | Quiet Nature | Ability: Static (Sometimes paralyzes the opponent upon physical contact)
[ Tackle ] • The currently unnamed, tiny green dog is Phoenix's first experience with a baby Pokémon, having hatched on December 31st from the mysterious egg he recieved on Christmas. The little guy is very quiet compared to the rest of Phoenix's rambunctious team, and spends most of his time sleeping amongst the lawyer's pile of ties. He'll ride along in Phoenix's scarf when the man goes outside. He was initially named Trick Lizard by Sora, but objected to being called a reptile and ended up being named Trick Dog instead.
Charley the Weepinbell (♂)
Lv. 36 (0/5 levels gained this week) | Quirky nature | Ability: Chlorophyll (Speed is increased in sunny weather)
[ Vine Whip | Growth | Wrap | Sleep Powder | Poison Powder | Stun Spore | Acid | Knock Off | Sweet Scent ]
• The strangest, and creepiest, of Phoenix's Pokémon, even if the trainer himself is impervious to Charley's...rather unique charm. Known for his STARING CONSTANT STARING, Charley is usually kept in his Pokéball, due to the fact he can't walk/fly alongside his trainer like the rest of his Pokémon can. Bitter? Just a little bit! Charley expresses this with contempt towards Phoenix's other team members, but it's usually all in good humor. Usually.
In Storage/Not Currently In Party:
Fluffy the Ariados (♂) (Former trainer: Trucy Wright)
Lv. 30 (0/5 levels gained this week) | ??? Nature | Ability: Swarm (raises power of Bug-type moves when HP is critical)
[ Bug Bite | Constrict | Poison Sting | Scary Face | String Shot | Leech Life | Night Shade | Shadow Sneak | Fury Swipes | Sucker Punch ] • After Trucy's sudden disappearence in November, her Ariados migrated onto Phoenix's team, much to his extreme displeasure. Because, daughter's Pokémon or not, Phoenix is horribly phobic of spiders, and as such, doesn't use Fluffy as much as he should. The oversized spider doesn't seem to mind much, though -- as long as he can get his daily dose of Crawling All Over The Nice Man Who Flails A Lot, he's pretty content. Phoenix is slowly growing tolerant of the thing, mostly because the sentimental value finally kicked in, and he's starting to become attached to Fluffy himself, too.
Pearly the Mismagius (♀) (Former trainer: Maya Fey -- Currently in the care of madegrowth)
Lv. 30 (0/5 levels gained this week) | ??? Nature | Ability: Levitate (not hit by Ground-type moves)
[ Growl | Psywave | Spite | Astonish | Confuse Ray | Lucky Chant | Magical Leaf ] • Pearly was his loyal assistant's starter Pokémon, and when Phoenix woke up after Fourth Wall Weekend to find her ball in his bag and Maya's 'Gear disconncected...it didn't take rocket science to figure out what happened to her. Pearly likes Phoenix fine, but she misses her trainer horribly, and will often wander out in the mornings to hover by the entrance to whatever town they're in, hoping to see a familar flash of purple and magenta. Phoenix is sympathetic towards the poor Pokémon's distraut, and is noticably kinder to her than he is to his other Pokémon.
Mr. Hat Junior the Croconaw (♂) (Former trainer: Trucy Wright)
Lv. 25 (0/5 levels gained this week) | ??? Nature | Ability: Torrent (increases power of Water-type moves if HP is critical)
[ Scratch | Leer | Water Gun | Rage | Bite | Scary Face | Ice Fang | Flail ]
• Mr. Hat was Trucy's starter Pokémon during her first arrival in Johto, and was joint-trained by both Apollo and Phoenix following her disappearence. Now that Apollo has disappeared too, however, Phoenix has been left with sole custody of the cheerful alligator. More used to performing in front of a crowd than battling, Mr. Hat doesn't fight much, and despite the GIANT ROW OF SCARY SHARP TEETH, is actually quite a bit of a cuddler. He and Fluffy get along very well, having come from the same original Trainer. He was left dismayed by the fact that, upon her triumphant return, Trucy didn't recognize him at all -- but since then, he's (mostly) gotten over it.
Pidge the Pidgeot (♀) (Really, Phoenix?) (Currently in the care of
Shiho Miyano)
Lv. 55 (0/5 levels gained this week) | Gentle Nature | Ability: Tangled Feet (Evasion increases when confused)
[ Tackle | Sand Attack | Gust | Quick Attack | Whirlwind | Twister | Featherdance | Agility | Wing Attack ]
• Phoenix's faithful flying friend and third caught Pokemon, as well as the third to evolve, during a playful battle with Jack Skellington. Resourcful and incredibly clever, Pidge is the most reliable of Phoenix's Pokemon, and as such, is often the one to scout ahead on Routes for potential dangers, and can always be seen hovering over her trainer's travelling group with a watchful eye. During the kidnapping of Minnie Mouse, Phoenix sent Pidge to Kay to help with the rescue effort. Pidge also helped to guide Sirius the Growlithe safely to Goldenrod after his trainer disappeared.

PERMISSIONS
[OOC]
This is the permissions list for OOC (out of character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired.
Backtagging: Sure.
Threadhopping: As long as you ask!
Fourthwalling: I can't see how anyone WOULDN'T. It's Ace Attorney, for crissakes! They lean on the fourth wall in game! So, a.k.a, go ahead. xD
Offensive subjects (elaborate): I'm pretty chill with everything, although I'd like for you to ask me about it first. c:
[IC]
This is the permissions list for IC (in-character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired. With IC permissions, it's a good idea to elaborate on what other players can expect from your character if they choose to do any of the following:
Hugging this character: Go ahead, although he'll be a bit weirded out if you happen to be, say, a complete stranger.
Kissing this character: Only if you want to make him splutter and act like an utter dorkwad. It's not really advised.
Flirting with this character: As long as you don't expect him to notice. He's a bit oblivious.
Fighting with this character: Fighting (verbally) is perfectly fine (he just so happens to be a LAWYER, I mean, it's kind of his job), and you can go ahead and pack a few punches at him, but in the case of the latter, he most likely will not fight back, unless there's something valuable at stake.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): If Phoenix can fall off of a burning bridge into a freezing river that also happens to have a deadly current and only get the sniffles from it, he can certainly take quite a few hits. But please don't wound him to the point where he won't heal properly, though, unless we've talked about it beforehand! /o/
Killing this character: If Pokemon can't die from being burned, electrocuted, smashed and otherwise pulverized, I don't think humans are going to be able to die, either. (Besides, isn't it, like. Not allowed.)
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: ...that's not allowed, right? Do I even have to put this or--
Warnings: Nothing much, really. He's a pretty friendly guy.
