who the HELL do you think you are??

im officially obsessed with family guy--stewie to be exact. ive been watching it for a bit but haven't really gotten into it until this past weekend when we watched the first 2 seasons obsessively. between that and our drunken taboo game-playing, my cousin and i got stomach cramps from laughing so hard.

needless to say, i had a wonderful holiday break. i spent my first 3 days in d.c. with my brother, sister-in-law and nephew, who is getting to be so big! he's still a chatty cathy and can even recite "twas a night before christmas." and it still melts my heart to hear him call me by name.

we opened gifts on christmas eve which took the entire afternoon because we gave each other so many things that the baby had to take a nap in the middle of opening them. he wore himself out over his excitement about the dump truck my mother gave him. he kept screaming, "TRASH TRUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!" which was so precious. later in the evening, zoe and her family stopped by and i met her newborn girl, zekia, who is gorgeous. i never thought id fall in love with another child but she captured my heart.

i spent the next few days hanging out with my mom. we saw "family stone" which was great and we caught up on a lot of law & order. i also spent a lot of time doing research on dogs because ive decided im ready to own one. more on that later ;).

i spent 2 days with my dad and his family which was a lot of fun. i finally got to see "march of the pennguins" (which i gave him) and loved it! i also took my little sister shopping for a the perfect jeans, which we found at the GAP. she looked AMAZING in them and we had a great time bonding. i tried to teach her how to shop for "grown up" shoes but we ran out of time.

it felt like my time in d.c. flew because by the time i knew it, i was back on a plane to nyc and in a car heading to new hampshire with katie, chris and art. we rented a house in bath, nh and it was fantastic! it was on a lake which was frozen and there was tons of snow. we spent the first night opening all the bottles of wine art brought which were rotten. his parents moved and gave him the leftovers of their wine cellar. out of 10+ bottles, only 2 were decent enough to drink. art made bbq salmon and brought a bottle of saki from japan which was very yummy. we ended the night with taboo--art and chris vs. me and kate. katie and i lost but we blamed the alcohol (at one point i screamed at her...when you get drunk, you lose your game. i NEVER lose game when i'm drunk!!).

the next morning katie and i made iji (lebanese scrambled eggs) and we had to improvise. apparently, fresh herbs are sparse in new england. evenso, they turned out well. we watched family guy and then went on a nice, long hike. art cooked again and made creole shrimp and then we played the newlywed game--chris and i beat katie and art and then we played taboo, finished off by some eps of family guy.

all in all, this was one of the best nye's ive had. we laughed, ate great food and drank excellent wine and champagne. and, i have to say that 2005 was a pretty good year. here's hoping 2006 will be just as nice or better.

i got great loot too but my prized possessions were not gifts. my mother has a huge box of shoes that she can't wear anymore but cannot bring herself to give away. i came back with 3 pairs, and bought 2 others...expanding my shoe collection big time. the shoe-beast in me has arisen!

anyway, hope everyone had a great holiday and here's to a great 2006!
