At lunch with catsman some years ago I mentioned Powell and Pressburger.
chazz: ...umm, they're sort of cult figures
catsman: of course (i.e., what else!)
Today I listened to a podcast about Michael Powell's memoir A Life in Movies. I don't know when I first learned about P&P, but my reading record shows I read A Life in Movies and its sequel Million Dollar Movie in February 1996. Those are two big volumes to read in one month!*
Black Narcissus and I Know Where I'm Going were the first two discs I ordered from Netflix (2005).
I actually saw A Matter of Life and Death and The Red Shoes earlier, taken out from the library.
In 2011 I watched The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and Peeping Tom... and later, for that matter, The Battle of the River Plate and The 49th Parallel.
My Powell and Pressburger history.
*But those aren't the only two I read that month!
