Last night after my walk, I noticed that my back was hurting some, and even had Ang massage arnica gel into it before bed. I got up this morning, it was still hurting, but I figured that all I needed to do was get back on the horse and loosen it up.
The weekend "buddy walk" today was at UCSC, starting at the barn near the main entrance and circling around. As we were doing our warm up on the flat on High St., it was still hurting, so I decided to drop off my pack and leave it in my car for the hill climb. About 1/2 way up the hill, not only couldn't I breathe, having left my inhaler in my car, but my back just plain siezed up on me. I could barely walk like a regular person, let alone like a racewalker.
A couple of my co-walkers stayed with me while another went back to get her car. I made it home and have been icing it all day. It still hurts like a son of a bitch. My "mentor" called, then our coach, who is also a chiropractor. She said that it was probably just a muscle spasm caused by an electrolyte imbalance. This is what I get for waiting until the weekend to go buy cytomax. She also recommended an adjustment, just to make sure that nothing is out of whack, but strangely didn't offer her own services, not sure why.
Anyway, I need a chiropractor. Does anyone out there have someone good to recommend?
