broken wrist, day 5
omg, is it only 5 days? this is endless.
WARNING--MEDICAL DETAILS, MUCH WHINGING AND BAD SPELLING FROM THIS POINT FORWARD.
actually, i may be back to day 2 again because yesterday i went to the orthopedic dude and he hurt me like a m-fer. i actually have about three cracks and the bone had slipped some so he had to do a "reduction" (i.e., move the damn thing back into place with minimal anaesthetic) and then wrap the cast nd then PRESS DIRECTLY ON THE BREAK to set the cast with the proper shape to (hopefully) keep the damn thing in the right place. OY!!!!! i tried to be brave, and i didn't scream or even curse, but i did almost kick the doc in the face. (oops) he seemed unfazed by that, somehow.
the nurse afterwards said that it is the insurance companies that refuse to pay for anaesthetic for reductions. even on little kids. sadistic bastards. i had 2 brken arms as a kid so i knew they would hurt me, i just don't remember the actual procedures from back then. i must have blocked it out.
i also hve to say that vicadin is pretty much useless s a painkiller, even the liquid kind. it does make me sleep, tho.
i just hope this works because he said that it still might creep again and i might have to have pins put in. at least the insurance co. will pay to knock me out for that. i really don't ant surgery cuz ang & i are going to vegas for xmas and i'm not giving that up.
thank god for my husbnd, btw. and for my nifty gortex cast that i can get wet. it's purple.
