A sad few days...

Well I haven't updated in a little while, but it has been a sad few days.  Starting on Sunday, I hung out at Kate's with Tracy, Emily and Kara, and then KT later on.  We went for a fun drive, dancing and singing and then headed back.  I liked just talking with them.  I headed home soon after and arrived just after 11:30 and learned that my amazingly-awesome neighbor, Robbie, had died.  He was only 26 and for all of his life, had suffered from Cerebal Palsy, strokes, and a HUGE string of other problems.  His heart failed while he was in Children's Hospital.  I was devestated to learn this news, but am glad that he will never, ever suffer again.

Monday~I had a rough day.  I took a 3 mile bike ride down to the Pelham Inn lake to write in my journal and just hang out for a while.  I later went to volutneer 3-6 and it was weird being in a hospital, with all these sick people and new birhs, knowing that Robbie's life was all over.  Mom later bought Marie and I ice creams!

Tuesday~I went to piano in the morning.  I was having a much better day, as on Monday, I had basically kept to myself as much as possible.  Later on was the wake.  As soon as I went in and saw all of his pictures, I became very upset.  But I was glad to know that his beloved Stuart Little was going to be buried with him :) .  He looked pale and thin, but he had on his glasses that he always wore and a nice, knit sweater on.  I then went back home and Trace came over later on to watch the season finale of "Summerland."  I was glad to just be able to hang out with her for a while.  I also got a nice Friendly*s ice cream sundae--whoooo second one in two nights!

Wednesday~The funeral.  We headed to Pollard's Funeral Home to get in the funeral procession and then to Saint Francis for a wonderful ceremony.  The eulogy especially was awesome, written by his so saintly-like mother.  It was signed, "Your lucky Mom."  That was a beautiful part and it really made me cry.  We headed to the cemetary later to say our final good-byes.  Mom, Marie, and I saved our roses to make rosary beads out of them.  They played the most beautiful song, "Testify to Love" by Wynonna Judd there.  You see, Robbie absolutely LOVED music, movies, TV, and singing!  That was his life!  I can't wait to get a CD made by his brother of him singing all on it!  (They ran out of ones they made at the wake).  We went back to St. Francis for the mercy meal, which was very good.  Later on, I mowed the lawn with my sister, hung out, and then went to Polcari's with my mom for dinner.  We took a walk afterwards, talking, and then went to get some of the left over flowers at Robbie's, talking to his mom and his mom's sister about wonderful memories.  One such memory was when Robbie once got mad and actually bonked his bus driver over the head with an ice scraper!  Another was where one of his bus driver's used to say, "You're handsome," and he'd reply, "No shit!"  (Robbie hated to swear in front of me and my sis; he said, "Girls, I'm sorry for my language!")  He had such a large impact on so many people.  He touched so many hearts and even the medical staff, doctors.  He was truly a miracle.  I am so proud to have known such a wonderful boy and will never forget him!

I think I will go and sit down for a bit now.  Later.
Chow babe!  ~Carrie~
