Background; Wheatley is a cheerful chatterbox who is a bit of an idiot. It's not his fault though, he was built to be an Intelligence Dampening Sphere by Aperture Science's people to try and control the GLaDOS computer system. His main function while attached to GLaDOS was to generate an endless stream of terrible ideas. Unfortunately, this apparently didn't work, so he was detached from the system, deactivated, and put into storage with the rest of the failed cores.
After the test subject Chell destroyed GLaDOS, the stored spheres came back online and took over some of the operations of the Aperture Science facility. Wheatley was one of those spheres and he doesn't seem to remember his past and being attached to GLaDOS. Because he is something of a moron, it took him a while to be assigned to a place where he couldn't do much damage to the facility. At one point, he was an assistant to the guy in charge of the neurotoxin release button, but Wheatley was dismissed after he accidentally touched the button. Later, he attempted to get a job at the manufacturing area, but the foreman went with a duplicate of himself. Finally, Wheatley was assigned to what he believes is the worst job, tending to all the humans in the Extended Relaxation Center.
Wheatley isn't hostile towards humans, however he does seem to look down upon them somewhat, especially those who aren't scientists. He thinks humans are smelly and finds their enjoyment of kicking a ball around (soccer/football) cruel. However, he did say that he liked their folklore and the way they looked. Wheatley also likes that they invented him and all the other cores, without humans, he wouldn't exist.
Things are uneventful for a long amount of time, he goes about his business keeping an eye on the humans, until one day he discovers that the power keeping the test subjects alive has failed and that the Aperture Science facility is going to have a reactor core meltdown.
Worried and wanting to survive this, he wakes up the test subject Chell, not knowing that she was the one who destroyed GLaDOS. Wheatley awkwardly gets her to the testing area, moving her Relaxation Vault unskillfully and making a mess of things. Somehow he manages to get Chell there in one piece and sends her after the Portal gun. He goes on ahead, using the Management Rail to go behind the scenes and meet her in the room where the Portal gun is kept.
Wheatley is confined to overhead rails throughout the facility. They run mostly behind the test chambers, however, in some cases, they go right through the chambers. Wheatley swaps the type of arm he's attached to at some points, so there likely is some sort of docking station that allows the cores to change. He was told that if he ever disengaged from the rail, he would die.
Once Chell arrives in the room where the portal gun is kept, she and Wheatley are unable to find it. Wheatley tells her to go look around and find it, but when she does, Chell falls through the floor. Wheatley says that he'll meet her up ahead in an hour, if she doesn't come to him, he'll do his best to come back and bury her dead body.
Wheatley has some knowledge of human culture. He knows of literary and historical figures and on one occasion quoted God. He knows some about sports and very little of card games (though he says he's been meaning to learn how to play cards). He uses some human phrases that wouldn't really mean anything to him (such as "I'm gonna lay my cards on the table" even though he's never played cards).
Chell catches up with Wheatley and the path is blocked for both of them. He tells her that he's been told that if he disengages from his Management Rail he would die, but they've got no other choice. He prepares to disconnect, but is scared. He's quite a ways up and he thinks that counting to three gives him too much time to think about what he's doing. He asks Chell to catch him, but she doesn't and he falls onto the ground. Chell then picks him up with the portal gun.
Wheatley is cowardly and brave, all at the same time. He's scared of a lot of things and makes a fuss and quite a lot of noise, but at the end of the day, he does what he must to survive, even if he thinks something may result in his death. He's afraid of heights when he's not securely attached to something. His Management Rail nearly always goes around the top of a room and often goes over metallic chasms that seem nearly bottomless. He doesn't mind the heights when attached to the Rail, but once he's in the hands of Chell and her portal gun, Wheatley is terrified of falling. He's also scared of GLaDOS, going so far as to never say her name, just referring to her as she and her.
After Chell picks him up, Wheatley activates a hidden panel and asks Chell to plug him into the stick in it. After she does so, he then requests for her to turn around, he can't do what he needs to while she's watching.
Wheatley likes to think of himself as a hacker, but most of his "techniques" are bogus. He often asks Chell to not watch him, though sometimes it may be because he wants to surprise her, other times he does more crashing into things than hacking. He does have quite a bit of knowledge of how to operate part of Aperture's system, he's able to turn things on and move panels around, among other things. But, other times, he's clueless as to how things work.
Once Chell turns around, Wheatley opens up a section of wall to reveal a catwalk that leads behind the scenes. He's excited that he doesn't have to follow a rail and can go anywhere and do anything, but he quickly finds that the best way to get anywhere is to just follow the rail.
More than anything, Wheatley wants freedom. However, the way he's designed doesn't allow for that. He's forced to ride the Management Rails in order to move around. He has a great knowledge of the way Aperture is put together and can find his way around expertly.
Wheatley doesn't seem to have a high opinion of the Aperture Science Sentry Turrets. He avoids helping the "I'm different" turret (though it's likely that he and Chell could not have helped the turret at that point in time). He just sees the turrets as tools, however, he does acknowledge that they do feel a simulated pain, but it's probably real enough for them. On that same note, Wheatley does feel pain too, but it's possibly just simulated as well.
Wheatley and Chell make their way to GLaDOS' chamber. He doesn't want to go in, but he leaves the choice up to Chell. They enter and he cries out, only to discover that GLaDOS is shut down. He tells Chell that a human defeated GLaDOS and escaped and that nobody saw him again, not knowing that it was Chell that defeated the computer system.
They cross the room, at one point Chell has to step over GLaDOS' motionless body. They make their way to the stairs and are temporarily paused by a large gap down to the floor. The only choice is for Chell to jump and Wheatley is hesitant about it, asking her to hold on to the portal gun and him. As she jumps to the floor, he yells, but they land without incident.
Wheatley acts almost human at times, he's able to imagine scenarios, such as the worst thing that could happen if Chell messes up her jump from the high stairs to the ground. Even though his appearance is that of little more than a robot eyeball, he's remarkably expressive, using his lighted eye optic, eyelids, the handles, and moving his body around to get his expressions across.
Chell and Wheatley follow the path to the main breaker room. Wheatley tells her to find the switch labeled "ESCAPE POD" and when they cannot find it, he has her plug him into the console. After a few moments, either Wheatley messes up or the console malfunctions and sends him and Chell straight up and back to GLaDOS' lair. GLaDOS starts powering up and Wheatley attempts to hack the password, but he tries to brute force it by starting out with the password "AAAAAA". This attempt doesn't work and GLaDOS fully wakes up and addresses Chell. Wheatley then finds out it was Chell who killed GLaDOS. He comments as the computer speaks to the test subject, but GLaDOS ignores him until she decides it's time for Chell to start testing again. She picks up both Wheatley and Chell in separate robot arms. Wheatley yells in terror as she does so, but then is crushed by the cruel machine seconds later and tossed aside like garbage. Chell is dropped into the incinerator and taken down to the testing area to find the dual portal gun.
It's unknown how Wheatley survives being crushed. The only thing that is known for certain is that it involved a bird somehow. Before he was crushed, Wheatley was in fairly good condition with only a few minor scrapes and things. After being crushed, he's dirty and dinged up and his eye optic is cracked and no longer functions at full capacity. After whatever the incident with the bird was, he somehow gets back onto a Management Rail and goes to find Chell, who is on a new test course designed by GLaDOS. Wheatley moves wall panels and silently checks on her in several tests until Chell gets to chamber 09, where he's hiding in a gap in the ceiling. He speaks to her briefly, but GLaDOS ends up lowering the ceiling and separating the two again.
Right before test chamber 12, Wheatley somehow finds some bird eggs and drops them in the door mainframe, causing the door to malfunction and GLaDOS to be distracted while fixing it. Wheatley speaks to Chell from an observation room, and is attacked by one of the parent birds but somehow gets it away from him. He tells Chell that he's working on figuring out a way to get her out.
He then convinces a nanobot crew to let him work with them. They're working on the area by the elevator after test chamber 18. Once Chell completes the test, the elevator slows and Wheatley speaks with her, telling her he'll see her in five more chambers. While he's speaking to the test subject, Wheatley bumps into a steel beam and knocks it off. The head of the nanobot crew, Jerry, fusses at Wheatley and fires him.
Wheatley finds a way to get to Chell after two test chambers. While she's working on solving chamber 21, Wheatley shuts off the power and opens up the wall. He speaks in a weird voice, saying that GLaDOS can't hear this accent. Of course, she can, so he just tells Chell to run. Once Chell is through, he closes up the wall and activates a Hard Light Bridge for Chell to run on. When she's to a catwalk, he turns it off and they keep running.
He's come up with a plan, they're going to shut down the turret production and the neurotoxin generator and then confront GLaDOS, as she'll be without her weapons.
Even though Wheatley is an Intelligence Dampening Sphere and created to make terrible ideas, he actually comes up with good plans. It's possible that the bad ideas are ones that are detrimental to the facility. However, even his good plans have flaws and he doesn't know how to make them work. But, they are solid ideas; they just need some refinement and adding on to. Wheatley also doesn't think things all the way through, which occasionally causes problems for him.
GLaDOS tries to trick Chell into a death trap, but she continues to follow Wheatley. The two are temporarily separated by a room with turrets that GLaDOS makes appear. Wheatley gives a late warning to watch out for gunfire after the turrets have already tried to shoot Chell. After Chell gets out and runs on the catwalk, another turret appears and Wheatley warns her that it's coming in time.
Wheatley and Chell split up for a moment when she has to take an elevator and when the two reunite, GLaDOS turns off the lights on them. Wheatley tells Chell that he's going to do something dangerous. He cries out and turns on his flashlight. He was told that if he ever turned it on, he would die. This frustrates him, as he has all this stuff but wasn't allowed to use it.
Wheatley guides Chell with his flashlight, showing her the way. He talks all the while, telling stories, including one about a room full of screaming robots. He also tells Chell about almost working in manufacturing and then being assigned to tending to the smelly humans. He apologizes to Chell and tries to come up with things he likes about humans to make it up to her.
He keeps showing her the way with his flashlight and they eventually get to the turret building, redemption, and testing lines. Wheatley tells Chell he's going around the back way and that he'd meet her at the bottom. Chell makes her way to him at the turret control center. He proudly shows her it and tells her how it works. Wheatley then "hacks" the door (after getting Chell to turn around and not watch) by smashing his face into the glass and breaking it.
Chell gets into the control center and takes out the master template turret. However, the machine goes on keeping the good turrets and throwing out the defective ones. Wheatley chatters at Chell with ideas of how they could stop it.
Overall, Wheatley is an amusing character that could get on the nerves of someone without a lot of patience. He constantly talks about all sorts of things and often doesn't think before he speaks. He is fairly dumb but has good ideas on occasion. He has a fairly good heart, but sometimes he thinks of himself first and his main goal is to stay alive. He wants freedom to go where he wants and without oppression but cannot achieve it alone and would probably need supervision to not accidentally mess things up.

Notes; Wheatley is equipped with a flashlight that he can turn on and off at will. He knows a VERY tiny amount of Spanish. Wheatley cannot move on his own, he weighs 99.20802 (45 kilograms) and is aware that he isn't very light. If something happens, Wheatley can survive on 1.1 volts of power. Also, he is built to withstand temperatures up to 4000 degrees Kelvin (6740.33 degrees Fahrenheit, 3726.85 degrees Celsius) All the iPhone abilities and applications will be automatically built/installed into him when he arrives at the farm, he seems to have some kind of wireless function.
RP Memories; This is my first game with Wheatley, so nope. ^_^
