New Star Trek
So the new Star Trek movie isn't even out yet and I'm already disappointed. I watched several of the trailers online and noticed one thing right away.
THE FREAKING ENTERPRISE WAS NOT BUILT PLANETSIDE!!!!!!!!!
Maybe I'm a bit of a geek and a purist, but it was long established that the design of the Constitution Class cruisers, as well as most of the Starfleet vessels, did not lend themselves to operating in an atmosphere or a gravity well. The only part of the ship that possibly could make atmospheric flight was the saucer section, and that was speculation on the original series.
