Since we were home, the girls went to church today. They sang in their final choir performances at both services. Soren cried before the 11am service and said she didn't want to sing, but couldn't articulate why. Later on she told me that she felt like she wanted to be with me. But um, I was there! So mean mom, I made her do it.
Lucy stayed in the nursery during the 11 service so I could watch RE Sunday. it was the last day of the religious ed. school year and each class presented something. It was great! Emma's class did a game show, "Do You Know More than a 5th Grader?" and asked questions from their curriculum of 4 parent volunteers. They had a girl walk back and forth across the stage with an "Applause" and "AwWWWW" sign. It was pretty funny.
Soren's class read about people that made a difference in the world that were UUs. Soren had to read the word astrophysicist! She did it!
The older kids had a bridging ceremony, which made me weepy. Jude was really good during the service. I'm going to teach in his 3 yo class next year. I can't believe he'll be 3 in September!
Then we came home and grabbed lunch and changed, and headed over to MILs. Tom and I tackled the attic while the girls watched the babies and then helped carry stuff to be donated into the garage. We did make a dent and I was once again reminded that I have the most wonderful husband ever.
He is a HUGE packrat, which annoys me to no end. He had tons of shit in the attic and I threw out an amazing amount and he was really, really cool about it. I had fun reading snippets of love letters to him from his past girlfriend, although I avoided the ex-wife wedding pictures and stuff that he wanted to keep and store. It's so fun to see stuff from his childhood and ask him questions about things he did. He's very closemouthed about a lot of his younger years, so it's good to get a window.
When I was asking him about how we're going to lay out the attic, I found out that he talked emma into taking the basement bedroom (the largest though) and how he's going to remodel it for her and make it totally non-basement like, so that he can give us a large master bedroom upstairs ,and then create a writing haven for me. Seriously. I was awestruck. I'll have my desk area, by the window, with bookshelves, a bathroom right there between my office and the bedroom, with a whirlpool tub, and a futon and stuff to snuggle in and read when I have alone time...he's got it all planned out. There is a super cool mural already painted upstairs - it's not done, but we can work around it. It will be in our bedroom.
It was also funny to find all the High Times magazines and pothead comic books from the late 70s. Gave me a chuckle.
His mom made us dinner and I had brought along stuffed artichokes (a new dish for us and everyone likes them ?!). Lucy had cereal again and tried mashed banana - she wasn't too sure about that though!
We're home again...I'm beat! tom's wrestling Judezilla into bed and I'm nursing Lucy again. I thought she was down for the count..silly me!
moving,
lucy
