Some People are Just Too Clever...chatchienMay 18 2015, 19:08:59 UTC
I know from your post that you believe that LFLB honestly cares for Sansa, but Honest has nothing to do with that guy. He assisted in her rape as far as I place the blame and I am blaming Theon, Roose, Ramsay, LFLB, Lady Oleanna, and I am even giving Pinot Noir the side-eye on that one.
You did make a good point that LFLB didn't realize just how weak Cersei was at King's Landing. And there is a lot that LFLB doesn't realize or know although he thinks that he does. LFLB likes a Mess, but I am thinking that this Mess isn't going to work out that well with Chaos and his advancement. Or that is what I am hoping.
And the other good point, how is LFLB covering his ass with Danys? The Warden of the North is going to have to work with her and her dragons when she finally, if ever comes over to Westeros. Tyrion had a good point about how was Danys going to rule when she has never been to Westeros since her birth. Danys can barely run Mereen.
And that look that Lady Oleanna gave Cersei when the Sparrows dragged away Queen Margery and Loras. It was as if Lady Oleanna was wondering if Cersei figured out about about Joffery's poisoning by Lady Oleanna and was getting her revenge for it.

I’ll amend it to say that he cares for her in only the way he can-in a misguided way. Just like he brought Ned’s body (bones?) to Catelyn hoping it would ease the way for them to be together, he wants Sansa to be okay but he wants power first and if she can just come out with her life than it’s all gravy. And there is a lot that LFLB doesn't realize or know although he thinks that he does. You’ve said it all along and I was hoping that there would turn out to be a method to his madness but no. I’m realizing he doesn’t have a plan. He has ideas and he pivots in whatever direction he needs to go next, but a real plan? This dude has none and it’s staggering to me that I’m just seeing this. He talks a very good talk but it brings me back to the scene in S1 where he’s trying to sass Cersei and she has her guards pull their swords on him. People let him get away with his plots because they don’t think he’s a real threat. If he was a real threat to anyone he’d be dead. They’re letting him tire himself out and he doesn’t realize it. Varys has a real plan: get Dany on the throne. Littlefinger is hoping that what he wants to happen will come to bear. To borrow a line from “The Dark Knight” “chaos is fair”. He can’t expect everything to blow up for everyone else and he’ll escape the fallout. There’s no way. I don’t know how he doesn’t have a contingency plan. Because if he was truly as crafty as he thinks he is he’d play Dany, too. Right now if Dany took the throne he’d be the first one killed because he actively worked against her claim to the throne. Hell, Stannis killed Renly for that reason!

Everyone slipped in this episode. Oleanna was wrong when she said that Tywin didn’t try to destroy people’s houses. He killed off the entire House Reyne! The difference is that Tywin knew he needed allies and Cersei thinks she can go at it alone. But when it comes down to it who will support her house knowing what they know or think they know about Tommen's lineage?
