Walter and Peter are a Father and Son with Food Issues.
They both like to eat food and they are eyeing each other's food.
Peter thinks that Walter should share his food with Peter.
So Peter sees an Omelet made by Walter and he decides to chow down on it and teach Walter a lesson in sharing. This episode is all about Lessons in Sharing.
The omelet is not for Peter to eat. It is for the ear in the omelet to eat.
Walter and Peter have a discussion about this.
Peter: It's an omelet.
Walter: It's not an omelet.
Peter: Walter, why is there an ear in the omelet?
Walter: It was an experiment. It was a protein rich incubator. It was growing.
Peter: Maybe in the future you could put up a sign warning me not to confuse your toxic playthings with breakfast.
Walter: Maybe you should get your own breakfast and not poach mine.
Peter: Remember yesterday when I nearly washed my face in a sink full of acid. And three days ago you hooked Gene up to the solar panels (Gene the Cow enters her two moos in the discussion. I think Gene the Cow appreciated getting some sun. It must be dark in Walter's Lab. And smelly.) and I nearly electrocuted myself.
Or Gene the Cow might have been moo-laughing at all the egg puns in Walter's and Peter's discussion. Poach an egg, use an egg to grow an ear that looks a lot like the embryos in the Fringe Apple Glyph, Sunny side up Eggs, Chicken embryos, and crack an omelet to make an ear (which is a variation on crack an egg to make an omelet).
And there are some concerned chickens behind Olivia as she investigates an Animal Torture and Testing Laboratory.
I think that this episode was attempting to answer the age old question: "Which came first? The Chicken or the Egg?" And you can include Walter and Peter in that age old question, although I think that Walter came first and then Peter. But which one of them is the Chicken? And which one is the Egg?
Later Walter and Peter are in a big forest investigating a monster attack, and they begin to have a Socratic Dialogue about The Chicken and The Egg.
Walter: Interesting. Whatever did this had enormous claws. Like a big bear or cat. Closer to that of an Eagle.
Peter: We are looking for Big Bird.
Walter: Don't be ridculous. Perhaps a pterodactyl. (Think about the Butterfly Glyph with the finger bones in its wings.)
Walter: This is quite delicious. (He is talking about the burrito that he is eating. Note that a burrito is wrapped like an omelet. And it could be a Chicken Burrito or an Egg Burrito.)
Peter: Where did you get that?
Walter: In the car. Uneaten. (The car is wrecked and has three dead bodies in it. And their dead food. This does not deter Walter.)
Peter: What is the matter with you?
Walter: Oh forgive my son, he's been in a mood all day.
Peter: I thought that don't eat the evidence went without saying.
Walter: It has no bearing on the case, I assure you.
Again, Walter and Peter are diverted from their dialectic path to Platonic Truth by Control Issues. And Food is the Control Medium.
Olivia Reads Ella Jane a Bedtime Story
There is a lot going on in this episode. Philosophical discussions, bedtime stories, scary fairy tales, rape, and a monster on the loose.
Olivia reads Ella Jane a bedtime story about a Burlap Bear who wanders in the wood. The Burlap Bear is unafraid because he does not believe in monsters.
The Burlap Bear has never met Walter or any of his mad scientist buddies. One of Walter's Science Pals by the name of Cameron Dagleman has created a monster who wanders in the woods. Cameron Dagleman is a very Designer kind of name. One that one might want to wear on one's clothes label or on the monster collar that one's monster by Cameron Dagleman might wear as one walks one's monster down Fifth Avenue or in Central Park.
Later Olivia goes walking in a wood and not because she doesn't believe in monsters. She has been in as many episodes of Fringe as I have seen and I think that we both believe in monsters. Olivia is going to rescue Charlie who has been assaulted and raped by the monster.
And even after his sexual assault, Charlie is subject to more indignities.
More pokings and proddings in his private spaces. And Pregnancy!
And the prospect of raising monster babies!
But Olivia stands by her man and helps him get an abortion.
Because Olivia is a Good Woman to her Man.
Then Olivia goes hunting the monster that did this to her Man. It's a Rape Revenge Tale.
Olivia can sleep at night after she has taken her revenge for her man's violation.
Those design patterns on her comforter look like those monster baby fetuses in her man Charlie.
That comforter must have been designed by Cameron Dagleman.
The Monster
Walter and Peter and Olivia went hunting the Monster by Dagleman in the Sewers. Find a smelly place, find a smelly animal.
See the red light? That means that Walter has found the monster and trouble. Beware red lights on this show.
Yep, there is the monster. It has found Walter. But Walter dispatches it with a 50 caliber incendiary round pistol. Why do people give Walter their dead bodies to play with and then big guns to play with? Walter is nuts. And I saw a 50 caliber rifle in Smokin' Aces. It is huge and the kick on that thing...how can a person hold a 50 caliber pistol in one hand?
This is a fairy tale so I guess there is an element of magic in that pistol.
The monster by Dagleman is felled.
My viewing companion,
brijeana , and I were discussing this monster. It was an amalgamation of a lizard, a wasp, and a bat. We decided that it was Batman.
- It was made from a Bat. ✔
- It lurked in dark alleys and in the shadows, waiting to strike its prey. ✔
- It was well muscled. ✔
- It was very concerned about its babies, much like Batman is concerned about his Robins. ✔
- It had a Bat Cave in the Sewers. ✔
You can't kill Batman, so we expect to see the monster again.
Walter Writes Fanfic
Last week, Walter was writing Apocalyptic FanFic (and writing it much better than some so called Professional Writers).
This week, Walter is making FanFic ManNips or MonsterNips.
Walter is a mad, mad, mad, and obsessed and talented person. Much like Fans on the internets.
I'd like to see Walter's Blog. He should scan all his work and put it out there for us all to see.
A Lesson in Sharing
I said that this episode was a lesson about sharing.
- Walter and Peter don't share their food and don't receive revelation.
- The Monster shares its DNA with some animals.
- The Monster shares its DNA and babies with Charlie. Charlie and Olivia are not happy about this.
- The Chicken shares its Eggs with all. But never tells us which came first.
- Ella Jane gets a vaccination that prevents her from sharing a communicable disease with her school mates.
