Summary:
Leverage/The Magnificent Seven ATF verse, Eliot/Vin, they used to be bounty hunting partnersNotes: I'm already working on a sequel that's about Ezra and Parker because apparently I have nothing else to do on a Saturday.
Chris didn't think anyone would blame him for freezing in place when he saw some long haired guy pinning Vin down in his barn. His first thought was that Vin was being attacked, but those were not exactly unhappy noises his sharpshooter was making. And it definitely looked like Vin was grabbing at his would-be attacker's ass.
Instead, he coughed. And then he coughed a little louder, hoping to interrupt the tryst before both he and the horses were scarred for life.
"Oh," Vin said, sounding just a little breathless when his friend finally let him up. "Meet Eliot. Eliot, this is Chris. This is his place."
Chris was more than a little surprised to see that the other guy was at least as scruffy as Vin. He'd known that Vin was gay; the younger man had assumed it would cause problems on the team. At the time, Chris had had a good laugh, pointing out that Ezra wasn't causing any issues - with his sexuality anyway - and the only person who Orrin had his eye on in that regard was Buck. Somehow, though, Chris had always assumed Vin went for the shiny, polished type. Apparently not.
"You got a nice spread," Eliot said, in a twang that matched Vin's. "You got Vin working your horses?"
Chris narrowed his eyes at that. If Vin hadn't told Eliot what he did, there was probably a reason and one that Chris wouldn't like having in his barn.
Eliot's arm tightened around Vin's waist and Vin leaned into the man. "Vin's always had that magic touch with horses. There was this time, out in west Texas, man, you would not believe what he can do with a pissed off bronc."
"Vin's part of my team," Chris told him coldly. He really didn't like it when his team's past came up and bit them on the ass, like it always did. They still hadn't recovered from Maude's latest schemes.
"Team?" Eliot cocked his head. "You're Chris Larabee. You got that big shot ATF team." He blinked and then gave Vin one of the longest congratulatory kisses Chris had seen since Buck gave one to Sarah after the wedding. "I always said you could make it law enforcement!"
"You were the only one," Vin said, his voice impossibly warm and full of affection. "Until Chris here. You heard of him?"
"Who hasn't?" Eliot asked cryptically.
Chris was saved by the rumble of Buck's truck. "I guess it's guest weekend, then. Buck said he's bringing his new lady and Ezra's cousin is visiting from Boston." He didn't miss the way Eliot's eyes widened a bit at that. Good. It would prove to the man that whatever history he was bringing back into Vin's life, the former bounty hunter had a family now.
Vin and Eliot followed Chris out of the barn, still touching each other. They were like two versions of the same person: Vin with his too-long curls and battered leather coat, Eliot with his own hair in a half ponytail and a blue plaid shirt that looked like it did belong on a stablehand.
"Stud," Buck said, stepping out of his truck and opening the passenger door, "I'd like you to meet -"
"Sophie?!"
"Eliot!" the dark-haired woman said in a slight British accent. "What are you doing here?"
"I told you," Eliot growled. "I was comin' to see Vin."
"And I told everyone that I was spending the weekend with an influential friend," Sophie said. Chris could see the verbal throw down that was about to happen. "Buck works for the ATF."
Eliot rolled his eyes. "So does Vin."
They stared at each other, but before Chris could ask them what the hell was going on, Ezra's Jaguar rolled up behind Buck's truck. A blond girl in Converse and a seriously skin-tight top jumped out of the Jag and practically onto Vin's boyfriend.
"Eliot!" she declared, loud enough to startle the horses in the barn. "Do you know that Denver has a chocolate festival, too?! Ezra took me there and bought me a chocolate bunny as big as my head!"
Chris watched as Eliot wrapped his arm around the girl in a half hug, leaning away from Vin. And he saw Vin's face fall, just a for half a second, when it happened. Now he really needed to know what the hell was going on and who he needed to shoot.
"Boys," Ezra drawled, leaning on his car. "I'd like you to meet my cousin, Special Agent Hagen. I assume that's... Eliot Spencer you're holding onto like a spider monkey?"
Agent Hagen's face lit up. "Yep!" She paused and unhooked herself from the man. "Ez bought a bunch of fancy chocolate for more money than even I had with me and I said you would make us a big, giant cake wit hit.”
Eliot reached out blindly for Vin’s hand and it did something nasty to Chris’ heart that Vin took it without question. “And you knew I’d be here?”
Hagen rolled her eyes. “Duh. Nate’s meeting with the priest-guy on their team and, uh, Special Agent Thomas said he’d be here soon. To talk about collaboration..”
“I’m gonna punch Special Agent Thomas,” Eliot threatened.
Hagen huffed at him. “Maybe if you weren’t so busy making sweaty noises with your bounty hunter, you’d know everything.”
Vin went pink at at that. “You heard?”
“At least I know how to turn my earpieces off, Eliot,” Sophie scolded.
Buck raised a tentative hand. “Can someone please explain why everyone else seems to know what’s going on? And why Vin was “making sweaty noises” with Eliot fucking Spencer?”
Chris swallowed and looked at the half of his team waiting in his driveway and the people they’d brought with them. Of course Vin had a history with the bounty hunter Buck used to say was too much of a myth to be real. And of course Buck’s date wasn’t doing anything more than trying to get information out of him. And of course Ezra’s cousin was going to cause as much trouble as any Standish would.
“Get inside. Everyone,” he barked. “Including everyone on the FBI Leverage team. And no more sweaty noises on my property - that includes you, Buck.”
