Oh, Papa and Mama only take care of me. The others live on their own most of the time.
[She's already headed towards Justin's apartment building, taking the long way around instead of simply using her door. She knows if she gets there too early she'll get bored waiting.]
[In a few careless daydreams inspired by day time TV, Shilo always wondered what it would be like if there were brothers or sisters around. Less lonely, obviously.
There are more people in the streets than she imagined there be. Maybe Justin is around after all. The brisk pace she keeps is fueled by her optimism.]
[Which of course isn't quite the same as the youngest, especially in her case, but Road always loves playing around with words.
She stops skipping along once she arrives at the right building, deciding to wait for Shilo there. She doesn't really think Justin has left - how could he, he was one of her favourite toys in the City, after all.]
[Shilo refrains from another question, but does wonder what she means by that. Maybe the most looked after because of size? The thought of Road, who she only knows by reputation of being dangerous, being protected doesn't mesh.]
I'm almost there.
[Almost being the operative word. Usually she runs because she can. Not tonight, running in the dark between street lights feels different with fresh memories of her nightmare waiting in her head.
Justin would have a logical way of thinking about nightmares. Something better than 'it's nothing' answer that had times before been given steadily. Topics seemed a degree less harsh after talking to him.
[She taps a foot impatiently, then spins around in a circle and hums to herself as she waits. It feels like a good night - there's more underneath the surface than there usually is. Attuned to dreams as Road is, she can sense the plague of nightmares in the City, and it thrills her.]
[Okay, a faster pace. It's rude to keep someone waiting. All that Shilo knows is that Road has powers, whatever they are. Being careful is her chief tactic, whatever that is besides meeting this person. There's no reason to harm anyone. They're just meeting as they do.
Finally seeing the other girl, Shilo gives a sheepish wave as she approaches.]
You haven't heard from him either?

The last I heard anything was that day he looked like you.

Me too...hmm. Maybe he's just sulking on his own. We should go pull him out of his apartment.

It wouldn't hurt to try and visit. Maybe he's mad.

[She's gathering her bag, texting back. The glowing little screen of her wrist communicator helps keep her roused.]

But why would he be so quiet?]
