Merlin 5.7
So I'm finally starting to catch up on Merlin. Finally. To be honest, I don't think I like the show that much anymore. Like Arthur's ignorance and uselessness and Merlin's secrets are seriously starting to be a complete turn off and it's uncomfortable. Also, I really kind of just don't like how they're making Gwaine much either...I mean, yeah he's loyal and stuff, but come on, all of the original round table knights had backbone and were the type to be like No, Arthur, you're being stupid, but now they're all kind of just simper-y and useless background that enjoy pushing Merlin around.
I want to see how everything ends up in the final episodes, because I really want a reveal, but I really don't think Arthur's going to react well to it at all, and I don't want Merlin to end up dying/banished. Though if they do decide to do that, maybe they could be so kind as to hint towards Merlin's immortality, that way Merlin could just sorta pop back in whenever necessary to help Arthur. If that makes any sense, because I honestly can't see Merlin as just abandoning everyone, even if he is killed in the end.
Okay-- to the episode.
Gwen. I don't know how I feel about Gwen at all. She's. I don't even know. And Merlin's paranoia of anything at all -- which proves true every time, but it always ends up with him having more secrets, which leads to him having to manipulate people even more. And it's not even the amusing manipulations like it was in season 1 when he was still innocent and stuff. Everything seems s dark ow.
Actually. I like dark!Gwen. Not pretend-to-be-good!Gwen, actual murder-everyone-in-the-way!Gwen. It's very appealing. Angel does it well.
Would it really be so hard to give Merlin a wardrobe chance after what has at least been 5 years? Because seriously, with all the crap he does and stuff, you'd think he'd go through his clothes a lot faster than Arthur or something, especially when his are cheaper and not as well made and stuff. But nope. Same close the whole time. At least his shirts look a little faded. Which is another thing, as th King's anservant, shouldn't he hav good lothes?
Okay. Seriously. Gaius. I love you, I really do. But you're pushing on, like, 70 or 80. You should be dead. What are you doing running around and stuff like a 20 year old? When are you going to retire? Have someone younger take your duties? You would probably enjoy it, maybe go into research and stuff. No one's saying you have to leave the whole world or whatever, you could just...have someone younger do all the heavy lifting and stuff, you know? I wonder if that's going to be in the finale too. That'd be interesting.
Creeper!Gwen. I really do hope she's going to hear something she shouldn't. Like Merlin has magic or something. That would be good.
Oh yes, Random insert of random thought--
I've figured the whole magic-from-birth bit is what makes Merlin special (which, duh, but hold on a sec). Because the usual age to get magic could be like starting 5 years old or something. And then after that, people have to study and stuff to be able to use it correctly. While Merlin can use it correctly without having to have learned spells -- though spells make the magic work more correctly. (Maybe most people figured that out forever ago, but whatever). I still don't like that though, cuz I like Merlin's don't actually need words to kick your ass gimmick. It makes me feel all warm inside and stuff.

I want to say (because I haven't gotten to the part where Merlin is framed. Yet) that there is n possible ay for it to b Merlin, I mean come on guy think. But this is Gwen doing this. And she's pretty damn loyal herself. Not that Merlin would ever contemplate killing Arthur (which he did). It's not like he'd be particularly good at it (which he isn't). I miss the gag episodes. Why must everything be so damn heavy now?

Wait, why is it suddenly dark? That makes no sense. Merlin jut passed the guard and it was bright as can be. Stupid dramatic affect. At least make sense. Geez.
Why is everyone in the world and their mother in Arthur's room? Like seriously, I know they're all concerned, but that would so not happen. Especially with Arthur's pride. He wouldn't wan anyone o see him like that.
OH MY GOD GWEN. SERIOUSLY. seriously. se.ri.ous.ly. And everyone just falls for that? Like, has everyone fallen so far from where they once were? Does no one remember how Gwen used to love Merlin? How they were best friends? So it's suddenly okay to just condemn him with just the barest of circumstance? Really?
Props for the great acting though. Everyone's gunna just eat that right up. And geez, Leon is just feeding right into it. The writers coulda been a little more convincing. Geez.

I love how Merlin hurt every time rthur is near death. He hurts so bad. It's all just so good.

Merlin just looks like everything in life has been confirmed. And he doesn't like it. And she knows it.
Final thoughts--
I liked the episode. I makes for interesting bits. Everyone's simpering annoys. As does Merlin's single-handedness. I mean, I kind of want someone else to step up and do something right for once. Give Merlin a break. or if not, at least HELP him. Because he's doing this on his own, with only Gaius to bounce half thought ideas off of. I want Lancelot to come back. That would make a lot of people happy.
