Hives!!!
Leo has been battling hives head to toe for one full week now. We can't figure out what is causing them. I have a hunch it's the laundry detergent, although it's the same detergent I've used since he was born. Sometimes I use Tide with bleach when his clothes get really dirty, but I've been using it for about a year and a half.
It could be the Claritin for his seasonal allergies, but he's been taking that as needed for about two months, and he had it once before late last winter.
I don't think it something he eats, because they are just not going away. The only thing he takes in daily is milk and juice. A milk allergy is possible, because I'm slightly lactose intolerant, but I would think he'd have an upset stomach or diarrhea or something.
I just don't know. We took him to the ER last Saturday when they really got bad, and they took one look at him and said it was definitely hives, and sent us home with a liquid steroid. He would wake up every morning with some hives, then as the medicine kicked in, they would go away by early afternoon.
I stayed home with him today since he's out of medicine and I only work 3 hours on Friday anyway. He was uncomfortable saying 'iiiiitchy, iiiitchy' this morning. I put some calamine lotion on and it seemed to help. I've just been letting him run around in his diaper.
This is driving me crazy. Maybe I should switch laundry detergents. I don't know what else it could be!
This happened once before and his doctor dismissed it as a rash from a viral thing. They went away the next day though.
