If you were that small all over again, and one of the very first things you saw at Hogwarts was Starla Makenna trying to put the fear of Merlin onto them, wouldn't you be scared?
I WAS that small once! And at that time I actually fell down the stairs in a heap at the Head Girl's feet, causing her to drop everything and her inkwell to up-end on my head, if you remember. But I was more amused that half of my hair was purple than scared.
Hush, you. No badmouthing of the lovely and wonderful Starla Makenna!! At least, you should've outgrown the terror by now, being a NEWT student unlikely to wreak havoc about the Common Room.
I wasn't talking about me, you know. I just said it was understandable they'd get scared - and since a lot of them seem to be in a hyperactive frenzy right now, I have the feeling she'll give them yet more reasons to feel that way pretty soon.
The rest are as culpable for having the idiocy to go along with it. Perhaps it is time to get them better acquianted with one of their senior housemates.

Yeah, they're chorusing 'This is the song that never ends'. Their exuberance is, I'm afraid, bound to be rather transitory and short-lived.

You are not taller by a great quantity. I am rather statuesque for a witch.

Yes, that you are. Very statuesque and stunning. This may have a rather deleterious effect on the sanity of the misbehaving first-years.
