Another recent read was Debra Marquart's The Horizontal World which is about growing up in rural North Dakota.  The thing that struck me most strongly about this book was how similar her environment was to mine even though I grew up in western New York and she grew up in North Dakota.  At one point she says that they went into Bismarck twice a year ( Read more... )
