Saturday Don't Hit The Ground

For today's quote, we consult that source of hilarity and genius, Douglas Adams~

"The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss."

Perhaps it's a little rude of me to say so, but I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of Touched had tried that method for flight. They come up with amazing ideas, but even my closest Touched friends would admit "amazing" doesn't always mean "good."

Thinking about it more seriously. . .I think this quote could describe mad science in general. It's all about figuring out the best way to defy conventional physics/biology/chemistry/what-have-you, isn't it? Something that should by all rights simply explode when turned on instead makes beautiful hats. A cross between a fish and a frog somehow lives and grows and breeds. (Much to our consternation.) Chemicals that are poisonous alone make a potion that can cause you to run at incredible speeds. Touched science is all about making the impossible possible. Perhaps that's why I'm so fond of it, and so happy to be a part of it.
