Accomplished today?
Zero.
Well, actually, that's not 100% true! We finished the
Women's Murder Club: Little Black Lies HOG (hidden object game)! It was LOADS of fun, by the way! All the Women's Murder Club games are fun -- so we may get another one to do, too!
And I had a long nap in the late afternoon, which is always a good thing...
I spent some time reviewing old blog entries here. I wanted to go back and see when I first became comfortable with SSIs (Server Side Includes), as I'm hoping to include them in the new website I'm creating for the PSSCA.
Why?
Because it basically means you can EMBED a menu for your website, as opposed to hard coding it in every single page. It keeps you from needing to use frames (do people actually still do that???), or JavaScript menus, etc. It still DISPLAYS as hard coding (when you view the source, for example), but it's a lot easier on the person maintaining a website!
When I first took over the festival website I had no clue what SSIs were, much less how to write them and how to use them. They were daunting, to say the least. (I also found it frustrating back then that I couldn't preview webpages without uploading them first, but that's another story...)
I need to play around with my style sheet, to make the menu work exactly the way I want it to, but that shouldn't be a big deal. Anyway, I'm excited that SSIs will work fine with GoDaddy.Com, so it's all good. (For those of you who'd like to learn how to use 'em for your websites, let me know. It's not a big deal, really...)
Other than this, I've been reading (yet another
Andrew M. Greeley book) like crazy. And loving both Colin and Henry (our cats). And eating junk (including candy) and lazing around and watching TV.
What a lovely day!
I need to get some WORK done, but whatever. I'll get to it tomorrow, I guess...
