Ok, here are the results on my end of the Meme:
1) What made you want to become a barrister? (Or is it solicitor? I can never keep the two apart, sorry!)
Not many people can, even here. I was still a bit confused when I first got into it. It's a bit of a strange system really, and to be honest there are rumours than the Barristers are a dying breed...
I'm actually headed towards the solicitor route. I've already done the vocational course, and as soon as I finished my Masters I'm going to begin the dreaded job-hunt. To be honest, I always wanted to become a barrister, speaking in court appeals much more to the show-lady within me, but I decided a steadier job with less 'you have one day to prepare for a case that may or may not destroy someone's life' stress would be a better option. ^_^
To actually answer your question (wow, this is looong....) I suppose it's something I've always wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I took French first for my undergrad because I love literature, and because I knew I could convert to law for my masters, so I kind of cheated to get the best of both worlds ^_^
2) What's your favourite fictional character from TV/literature/mangas/anything and why? What sets this character apart from anyone else?
Wow LL! This is a tough one! I don't know if I can really answer, especially when I think about literature, there were just so many. And Tv? I suppose I'm going to be silly with this one and say Dinozzo from NCIS, I'm not really a fan of the show, but I LOVE him. So. Much. Just because he loves films like me, and has that quirky asshole attitude going for him. If I was going to really think about it, I suppose I'm going to be cliche and say Atticus Finch (I know, lawyer...Atticus....) but when I was little I read that novel over and over again. I wanted to be all wise and respected like he was when I grew up. There was also a point when I was little when I wanted to be Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? But that's a story for another day...
3) Do you like children?
I love 'em. Especially when they're under five years old. They're adorable. All of them. But I don't want them. Nope, no sir. I have this fear that I'll end up being one of those crazy moms who bubble-wraps them before they go out to play. Once I get over my fear of being like that, I suppose I will want them....
4) What's a perfect day for you like?
Waking up relatively early on a summer day, having a breakfast of bagels and lox with a cup of coffee. Spending an afternoon in the sun with friends or family (or on a beach if it's a tropical country), watching a movie at night (a MUST), writing some fanfiction and getting to bed. Yep, pretty boring, but I think my life is so hectic I like it being calm when it can be (although i am not adverse to 6pm to 6am partying once in while...)
5) When and why did you take up writing and how on earth did you manage to become such an excellent writer?
*blushes* Thank you, that was very sweet. I think I was about fifteen when I first read a sailor moon fanfic about the senshi and shitennou. From that point I fell in love with the characters, and as I began reading more I decided I'd wanted to write something myself. Nothing too exciting, really. And as for the 'excellent writer' bit, I have written some disaters in my time, most notably the fic I wrote for you and never posted, (and which was so bad I decided to re-write it, and then I had the ficathon and exams, so i kind of slipped in there for my entry instead. I'm sorry!!!!!!!!!!! I will make it better and send it to you one day I promise!)
1. Why do you like Rei/Jedite?
I suppose I've always love Rei, simply because I wanted to be as graceful as her. And the more I got to learn about the different versions of her, the more I liked. Even the bitchy attention-craving loud anime version. And as for Jadeite, well, I always thought of him as a hot blonde. And then I read VO1's version of him, and it was so exactly what I wanted him to be like, the calmer, likes-everyone kind of guy who would compliment Rei perfectly. I couldn't help it, he cemented himself as my absolute favourite.
2. If there was one thing about the SM manga that you could change, what would it be and why?
Most definitely I would beg her to flesh out the Shitennou. Hell, she wouldn't have to pair them up with the Senshi, just make them more than the ridiculously two-dimensional characters that they were. How long did Jadeite last? All of half a second? Seriously? Previous general of an entire planet?! At least I know she tried to be creative...
3. Name the three biggest influences in your work.
-My friends, especially the ones who think that they're cool, but they're blatantly not (it's so adorable to watch guys pretend to be smooth and then crash and burn).
-My family. Mainly my youngest brother, who is like, twelve and I swear from time to time that kids comes out with some of the funniest one-liners I've ever heard. He's like a nineteen year old frat-boy in disguise.
4. Name another fandom that you really love and what it is that attracts you to it.
Oh my god, I can't believe I'm saying this but, Gears of War, as in the Xbox game. I just wish people wouldn't write such shit. I think I've found all of two good fics in the whole fandom. I don't write for it, but it has such potential. I see it as possibly having some of the best bromance in existence if only someone would take the time to write it. Baird and Cole are awesome, especially since it's Terry Tate who voices Cole. (If you haven't heard of Terry Take adverts, just google him).
5. Do you have any project you always wanted/want to work on but feel that you can't?
3 actually, two are related to fanfiction, the other one is learning how to play the guitar.
I have a fic in my mind based on the mafia somewhat, but it was just too difficult to plan out properly. And the second is the SilMil fic that would actually be the back story for Hooligans, which is even moretwisty and weird than the mafia fic.... One day though. One day. Maybe once I learn how to play the guitar.
1. If you were a plant, what kind of plant would you be?
A massive, ginormous, humongous, big redwood from Cali. Maybe it's because I'm short. Either that or a coconut tree. Actually a coconut tree would be pretty funky, they have tasty coconuts, they're found in tropical countries, they're tall and palm leaves are both pretty and useful. Yeah, let's stick with that. I'd be a coconut tree.
If I were to be a plant that reflects who I am as a person, I suppose I'd be a daisy. Not really outstanding but it's a happy flower, which likes the sun and enjoys making people smile.
2. What is your favorite childhood cartoon?
They are the following (standard issue really):
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Sesame Street (I have yet to grow out of this one)
-He-Man

3. What is one setting you've always wanted to write about?
SilMil. The number one was the guys and girls in the UK, but I'm actually attempting to do this now so I don't think it counts...
4. Which of your characters would be most likely to have a tattoo, and what would it be of? (If any of them has a tattoo already, how/why did they get it?)
It would be Jared. And it would be something in Spanish (because he's from California) about life and living, or Hawaiian and about surfing. It would either spread across his back, just under his shoulders, or circled around his left bicep. It would have to have colour, definitely an image with words written underneath, but he wouldn't want it to be too big. He doesn't want to draw attention away from his pretty face and solid-as-a-rock, round backside.
Noel just wouldn't do that sort of thing, Zach hasn't made up his mind yet about what he would have and Ceithin doesn' treally like the idea of being stabbed thousands of times with a tiny needle.
5. You suddenly are stricken with the ability to play any musical instrument. What do you pick?
Easy one: guitar. Acoutic. But I'd plug it up to an amp to hide my massively shit singing. My dad has tried to teach me on several occasions but has just given up, although I maintain it's because he's a lousy guitar teacher.

1) Tell me how you ended up in the UK! What is your favorite thing about being a Brit besides laughing at dumb Americans?
My father is Welsh. My mother's side comes from Trinidad and Tobago but she's a New Yorker through and through. I was born in NYC, as were my bros. But my father tricked my mother. He told her 'Come to Wales! It's great!' so she chose a place with wet, crappy weather, sheep and lousy shopping and not-so-great food instead of NEW YORK. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THAT WOMAN?! On the plus side, there are nice beaches and it's where I consider home (and it's part of Europe, so Italy, France, Spain and Germany are like, right here.)
I suppose I'm lucky since I get the best of both: I know what Koolaid tastes like, I know why slam dunking is impressive, I love Mexican food and I get all the jokes in Family Guy; AND I've seen Green Wing and The Inbetweeners, I live next to a ruined castle that was built in the eleventh century and they love curry here!!!! And when I can gear up the courage and brave the freezing waters, I can surf. Not a bad life. But I miss the sun. SO. MUCH.
2) Who's your favorite Hooligan? If you could spend a day with him, where would you go?
No question, it would be Jared. Just because he's the most relaxed of them all. I'd take him down to Cornwall for the surfing since I know he'll be missing it like crazy and then we'd spend the rest of the day barbequing and throwing wet sand in each others' eyes.
3) Any old fics that are lost to the internet that you can dig up and post a line from?
Nothing worth bringing your attention to, but how about a line from HOOF from a future chapter?

No. Not ever. I couldn't do that to my hair. Niet. I would just donate double to charity. I could wear a crazy costume, or do something nuts or ridiculous, but I couldn't do it to my hair. I'd look like an alien, and not the pretty kind.
