This was wrong. This was wrong this was totally wrong.
But he couldn’t
Stop
Staring.
He tried, for the love of all things holy, he did his best to unglue his eyes from the woman who had practically become like a sister to him. She was standing a few feet away, stripping off her outer layers without the slightest clue that it was probably the most erotic thing any guy in this room had ever seen, or that she was the main reason that most of the male swim team stayed to watch almost every single one of the women’s training sessions. To be honest, Jared only knew one woman who could do it better. But she wasn’t here. She was in her dorm room, blissfully unaware of the fact that her boyfriend had finally joined the rest of the male population in realising how hot the cool Ami Mizuno could be.
She took off her T shirt, stopping for a moment when the collar reached her mouth to readjust before pulling it off completely in one swipe.
He felt dirty, and usually Jared liked dirty, but this definitely wasn’t the kind that made him comfortable. This was more like a Luke-and-Leia-kiss sort of situation, except they hadn’t kissed and oh God, he wasn’t going to imagine doing anything with those plump little lips of hers.
That last thought had be so wrong, his stomach suddenly felt like he’d chugged down a glass of milk that had been left out in the sun all day.
He didn’t deny to himself that he’d always thought she was pretty -all five of the Sailor Senshi were good looking- but Zach had had his sights on her from the beginning and he’d been busy chasing after Rei. It was Usagi who’d shoved in his face that Ami had beaten her school record every year until she’d left, and from then on they became fast friends. He made her try out for the team and within her first semester she’d almost equalled the university record for the 200 free. They'd gotten close pretty quickly since they travelled a lot for competitions- he’d used most of their time trying to siphon information about Rei (until he actually started dating her, then he spent most of their time getting Ami to tutor him since Rei took up such a huge chunk of his life). In exchange he told her embarrassing stories about Zach’s childhood and taught her how to play pool. During the away races he looked out for her when the teams went partying, and he made excuses for her when she stayed in to study. During all that time he’d never even once watched her slip her track pants off and thought about her smooth skin or how great her ass looked. Urgh! STOP IT!
This was getting ridiculous, but his stubborn ocular organs refused to obey his brain, preferring the orders sent from downstairs.
Zach would kill him if he knew. Actually, he’d probably do something twisted like slip Viagra into his drink before he murdered him, so when they came to collect his body it would be really embarrassing. He could be spiteful like that.
And if Rei ever found out, Jebus help him, he wasn’t even sure death would save him.
And now she was in nothing but a skin tight little suit that clung to every curve of her body. He wanted to march right up to her and demand she put something decent on...and then watch while she changed. Oh my God, WTF?! I'm such an asshole!
This wasn’t his fault. This was all on her. And her inability to do something as simple as staying on a frickin’ diving board.
It all happened yesterday.
She’d slipped. There had been a thud, followed by a large splash. He’d missed what had happened, having just gotten out of the pool himself, but he saw both his coach and the women’s rushing to the board where Ami had been only moments before. He’d swum enough in his life to know that the dull sound before she hit the water meant that something fleshy must have collided with something solid.
She had yet to resurface.
Without thinking he dived back in, mercifully (or not so much considering the clarity they afforded him) he hadn’t followed his habit of ripping off his goggles the instant he’d left the water. He’d spotted her within seconds, relieved when he realised she was ok.
Until he saw why she had yet to come up for air.
Her right breast had somehow escaped the confines of the tight black bathing suit. And she was desperately trying in her confused state to shove it back in.
He couldn’t move. Partly because he knew how embarrassed she’d be if she noticed he was there, but mostly because…well duh, he was staring at a frigging boob. At Ami's boob. He didn't know whether it was her Senshi powers or just his imagination but it practically glowed in the pale blue of the aquatic world. He couldn’t help but notice how soft and round and perfectly pert it looked, suspended in the water as it was, and how the slightly cool temperature wrinkled its areole and nipple to a dark pink. It disappeared all too quickly from view as Ami managed to rearrange herself and float upwards.
Once he’d managed to drag himself back out of the water he all but ran for his towel. He waited until her coach backed off before walking over and asking if she was ok, praying his voice didn’t sound cracked. He towelled off his shaggy blond head in an attempt to look relaxed. She waved it off, her cheeks red with embarrassment at all the attention and showed him her left bicep which had only grazed the diving board.
He plastered on a fake grin before pulling off her swim cap and throwing it into the pool, eliciting a squeak from her and a glare at his back as he promptly made his exit.
He’d avoided her for the rest of the day, and now, after he’d had the whole night to think about it, he was watching her tugging at her straps and wishing desperately that he could just have one little squeeze.
Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong!
Had it been anyone else he would have made fun of them, cracking the odd joke for the next few weeks, and gotten over it. But this was Ami. And the realisation that she was actually a very attractive woman had hit him so unexpectedly he was still in shock. It was overreaction, one that would wear off soon. His feelings for Rei hadn’t changed in the least, and he knew that soon he would calm down over his teammate, for now though, things were going to be awkward and he was just grateful that they were using the outdoor pool with the colder water. But he knew if he didn't start talking to her again soon, people were going to get suspicious.
He decided to do one of the things that would get her annoyed, but splashing water on her or hugging her while he was wet and she was still dry were out of the question. He settled for a simple, "Hey Ames," as he pulled himself out of the deep end. He waited until she smiled and said hello back to push her into the pool.
