In the post where I listed a few stories that I keep coming back to, I forgot a few important examples which I remembered when I was looking through my stash of fanfiction.

For instance, I started rereading the amazing katallison's Due South novel The End of The Road which is probably the only fanfiction I've read that I would qualify as true realism. It's stark, harsh and perfect. Due South is a light hearted show and this story isn't. And I find that right there such an interesting concept and one which works brilliantly. It's not the kind of story you just read on a whim, since it's very, very long and quite sad. I know some people think it's a little too depressing, but I just love the realistic tone. I love how she dissects Fraser & Ray's impossible relationship and their irrevocable differences. The kind of differences it's ok to ignore when you're writing a more romantic story, but which are really such that you wouldn't be able to ignore them in real life. Due South ends on such a hopeful, romantic note, with the two of them riding into the sunset together, but in reality it doesn't stop there, of course. And most importantly, the way she writes the voices of these two characters is completely perfect. She nails it. This story is quite unique and it's one I will always come back to, I know.

I also forgot that I've probably reread Mallory Klohn's QAF UK stories about a billion times. WBW is THE sequel to the show. It might as well have been filmed, it's just that perfect. And it resolves everything about Stuart & Vince and their beautiful relationship. It's funny, engrossing, sexy and perfect. Whenever I've watched the show again, I feel the need to read WBW as well. Because I love those boys so much! And I love these stories.

This is not in the rereading category, but in the sort-of-new story category: wax_jism made an old JuC-story public for the first time and I've been happily reading it. I love wax, she writes such wonderful angsty, confused!JC. So if you haven't read it, do:Nobody Does It Better. (I still haven't caught up on anything else on JuC, though. Bad me.)

Completely unrelated: Have you all seen Rufus W's video for his Brokeback Mountain-song, Maker Makes? It's quite pretty, I think. Pretty man, pretty song, pretty film. But sad! :(

An announcement: I'll be taking down the Life On Mars eps very soon. So let me know if you still want any of them.
