Senior Year Band Banquet. What a night we had.

I had so much fun, and I enjoyed every part of the event. The meal was great, my speech went well I think, awards were entertaining, the slideshow was AWESOME, the leadership of next year is one to be extremely proud of, and the dance was great too!

I didn't cry, as I ended up much too happy for tears, beyond the tears of regret, beyond the tears of joy, beyond the tears of any worldly emotion. I ended the night just feeling proud. And not with the pride that is one of the seven deadly sins, but I was proud of not only my accomplisments, but everything that this Band has done over my four years.

Freshman year, I helped out the winterguard, as they achieved an upgrade from the novice class (the lowest) to Scholastic AA (a much better class) and went on to the state level. For four years I took part in the jazz band and we went from freshman year messing around, to senior year competing with two different jazz ensembles. The Wind Ensemble is one of the most impressive organizations I've ever seen, and I am mostly proud of ever being a part of this group. Although my freshman year, with pieces like Galactic Empires, was a challenging and rigorous year, I believe that the Wind Ensemble of 05/06, and that of 06/07 are just as capable, and will most likely exceed all standards we've ever placed upon our organizations here at Stony Point.

I'm not depressed that I can no longer be a part of this organization, but moreso I'm in awe that I even had the oppurtunity to be a part of it in the first place. I don't care if other schools think of Stony Point as the bad school of the district, because when it comes to band, I think we are strong competitors in all areas. My heart will be with this band for life, and I can't wait to see the miraculous ways that this group, under the direction of Ms. Benford, Mr. Greene, and Mr. Sedatole, will astound me in the future.

Once again, thank you to the band for four wonderful years of fun, friendship, excitement and success!
