In the process of cleaning four and a half bags of garbage out of my room, I discovered something.
Many somethings, actually. And I was quite entertained by them:
A number of old notebooks, both from classes and from being passed back and forth with notes in them, from high school.
Several to-do lists, both mine and friends'.
Baby Inu Yasha, and the pattern to make him.
A number of Cait-Sidhes, Dirk, Ulric, Salazar, and one who's name I have forgotten.
Gillies!
A perfect basket for carrying at Faire.
Paper dolls.
Lots and lots and lots of little goth kid clothes.
Here's why that's so entertaining:
Notebooks- Oh god was I a dork. Still am, actually, but I'd forgotten how weird I was. Oh god, the fanfiction, the inside jokes, the playlists, the drama, the silly things we'd be worked up over...
To-do lists: Half of them I'd completed unknowingly, and the other half are just hilarious. Jenny, whoa. We were twisted kids.
Baby Inu Yasha- I'm shipping the doll to Jenny, as I have no idea what to do with it anymore.
Cait-Sidhes- Acquired over the course of several years at Faire. I'm really depressed that I can't remember the largest's name. Also cannot find their birth certificates.
Gillies- Two pairs I think are Jenny's, but now I have marroon, cream, green, brown, and black with buckles. As well as my new boots.
Perfect basket- Being ribboned and decorated, is going to be used to smuggle nonsense into Faire, instead of holding Beanie Babies.
Paper dolls-They're just really fucking cool. The sister will be taking them after she's settled in her new place.
Goth clothes- I'd almost forgotten I had been a little goth kid. Wow. Half of the clothes don't fit anymore, which is surprising, because I had thought I was still the same size. Nope. Thinner waist now, bigger hips, and bigger boobs. Height's the same as it was. Shoes still fit too.
While I'm thinking about this delightful flash to the past, I've been re-reading many of the books Dad used to read to me when I was younger. And it's the most amazing thing ever that I can still hear in my head all the different voices he used for each separate character. If you've ever heard my Dad in casual conversation, you might have a hard time believing the falsettos he used for female characters, and the pitch he'd use for animals and the speed at which he'd talk, or the nasally tones for the villians. Oh, but I love my Dad.
