Nope, I did not give the Blue Jackets a chance last night. With seven starters injured (including Rick Nash) and a makeshift lineup, it would have been a massive task to go toe to toe even against the Capitals on the road. The Caps were 18-1-1 at home going into last night's game ( Read more... )

I've said it before, and I will say it again, ever since the jackass from Queens took over as "Commissioner" (yet another dumbass move by Bettman--what the hell is a commissioner doing in the NHL--it's always been "President of the National Hockey League", not some stupid title that is designed to copy those of other sports in order to draw in the uninformed), newer teams, such as some of those that you have mentioned here, have names that only belong in video games and not in the real world.

My apologies for sounding crabby, Edward. I've been regularly insulting the Russian leadership because of the Russia/Ukraine gas dispute (I'm of Ukrainian ancestry), and given that we are communicating on an enterprise that is owned by a bunch of bastards from Moscow (Putin probably has his greedy hands in the pot), I am fearful that the FSB is going to come and make me drink cheap booze. ;)

Did I not warn you after the Kings meltdown that the team wasn't all that bad, and that they did have a crap game that night but all signs were pointing towards them turning the corner? I can only hold that it holds up and they continue playing like this through the rest of the schedule.

Reread the subject line. I'm sad that Foote is hurt and won't be playing tonight. Mason is playing strong, such a calming influence back there. The defense has solidified a bit, need to work on the special teams, a lot. The big thing is the secondary scoring now that Nash and Brassard are out, Malhotra, Peca and Commodore (Wade who) have picked up some of that slack.

There's talk of them picking up Sanford when Luongo comes back. That's a harsh indictment of Leclaire's health and durability. Such a shame. I liked the kid.

Oh, I read the subject line. Just felt the need to say that I told you (and others, elsewhere) so.

Now, to see if they can keep it rolling for the last two months.
