Geek Squad called yesterday. My beloved laptop needs keyboard and motherboard replaced, repair quote of over $850. I can get a nice new laptop for that, so obviously I declined the repair. Now I'm wondering...exploring various techie sites online, it seems that Geek Squad is where you go if you want to get ripped off. So perhaps I can take it somewhere else and get the repair done for a lower cost. Anyone out there know if a keyboard and motherboard can be replaced on a Sony Vaio for less than $800?
Anyway apparently I'm in the market for a new laptop. If we had the money I'd be secretly happy because Shopping. But I'd rather not use the credit card for something that isn't an automotive, veterinary, or medical emergency. I thought about just getting used to the desktop and dealing, but Scout needs it a lot for school, which will be priority, but she also uses it for funsies. I don't really need the conflict in my life of the two of us having to dance around the other for computer time. I can use the Nook and my phone for browsing and checking email, but for bill pay etc and writing, I need something more. And I hate this clacky keyboard.
So I haven't been around all that much for commenting the last few days--apologies if I missed something important.
In other sucky family news, Scout is having foot problems. She's always overpronated and it never seemed to be a problem. Lately it has gotten noticeably more...noticeable? I still hadn't wanted to label it as a "problem" because she hasn't complained of foot or leg pain. Until recently when she had some lower back pain that had her practically crying. Then at dance class on Monday, she had problems going up on her toes. She was putting all her weight on the inside ball of her foot, instead of evenly distributing it. Which caused intense pain and she couldn't get up high or turn out. I made an appointment for her with a physical therapist. Hopefully it will just be a matter of getting her some strengthening exercises for her feet.
That's it I guess. I think I will either go to look at computers at Office Depot/Staples/Comp USA or go for a dog walk. Catch you all later!
