I have been having lots of luck in the past with "psychological magick," using the outside world at night to represent my inner world and therefore play-act a trip into my inner world in an attempt to heal myself. It's worked so far on one member, Pi, who was very scared and kept to himself for a very long time. Now I have two other projects, but ( Read more... )

When Mona started taking all the damage meant for the whole system, and started acting out because of it, the rest of the Collective tried to reject and purge her. Didn't work. After some roommates counseling from our Priestess-Confessor, we had to embrace her, damage and danger and all.

Would it be possible to attempt to accept the tears when you know that something's getting ready to go to the Pit?

Oh I've tried crying, and have managed to get the tears to come out, but it always so far has lasted a really short time before the rest was shunted away. I mean, I always know when something has gone to The Pit, because if I'm at the point where the process won't engage (too much shit clogging The Breaker) and can actually cry all the way without the Pit being involved, the tears last a long time and sort of fade away into sniffles, and the sniffles persist for about an hour. When The Pit gets involved, though, I'm about halfway or less through the process of crying, and the change is instant: one second I'm in tears, the next instant I'm completely calm ( ... )

Keep practicing. You've been holding it in for so long that it won't happen over night. Conventional psychology might yield some good advice, here. Your pit sounds like the usual human subconscious, where people store traumas when refusing to deal with them, that come back to bite them later.

Be strong. In this case, the healthy human mentality must be exercise by a muscle. And you have to really want it deep down in that subconscious of yours that's been failing you for a long time. Your course needs changing.

Oh and maybe, just maybe, instead of treating your pit like a conscious entity so fundamentally, you should remember that it's really... just you.
