“Ma’am, the boss wants to know if the preparations for Prince William’s security are done.” Edward, a member of my team for the Prince’s wedding, asked.

“Almost, we just need the confirmation if the others are in their assigned positions. Tell him not to worry, we still have twenty minutes, and besides, when were we ever late?” I replied.

“Yes ma’am.”

It’s been two years since I moved to London and now I’m one of the most respected and sought after member of Q Security and Detective Agency. I own a condo unit only a few blocks away from the office and I bought myself a dog. It’s a West Highland White Terrier I named Andrew. He’s been with me for a year and he occasionally plays with Mangdoongi, Changmin’s Maltese, whenever Changmin and I get together.

Changmin and I have been together for about three years now. Our relationship hasn’t always been smooth. We usually fought about how little time we spent with each other since I started working. We even broke up three times, but fortunately the break-up periods don’t last very long and as soon as we learned how to schedule our time properly ‘the little time spent together issue’ was finally resolved.

Sometimes our firm provides security for Changmin, who is now one of the most influential businessmen in the world, and his colleagues during events.

“Ma’am, everyone is in position.” Phoebe informed.

“Roger that. Edward, tell the big boss were ready.” I ordered.

“Yes ma’am.” He replied.

“It’s showtime.”

The next day...

“Congratulations on a job well done. Aline?”

“Sir?”

“Your team can take the day off tomorrow.”

“Thank you sir.”

Those were the words our big boss said after the Prince’s wedding was finished at 2:00 am in the morning. By the time I got home, it was already 3:00 am and Andrew was already snoring on the sofa, which is where he usually sleeps when I’m not home yet. I just had enough time to take a quick shower and check if the doors and windows in my condo were all locked before I collapsed on my bed.

In the morning...

The insistent ringing of my phone woke me up. I looked at my clock. 6:30 am. Ugh! Who’d be calling me at this hour? I picked up the receiver.

“Hello.”

“Hey baby, good morning.” Changmin, I should have known.

Sigh. “Baby, it’s still so early. I went to sleep at about three-thirty in the morning. I’m still so sleepy, can we talk later?” I begged.

“Sure baby, sorry to wake you.”

“It’s alright. You didn’t mean any harm. Bye, I love you.”

“I love you too.”

11:00 am...

I heard the playful barks of dogs as I slowly became conscious of the outside world. My eyes were slow to adjust to the bright lights. I felt the right side of my bed dip, and familiar scent of the person who sat down invaded my nostrils.

He kissed my cheek and murmured, “Wake up baby, it’s almost noon.”

“Hmmm?”

The doorbell rang and I heard our dogs barking excitedly. Changmin got up to answer the door.

“Delivery for Mr. Shim.” A man said.

“That’s me. Just put it on the table.”

“Yes sir.”

I didn’t clearly hear what else they talked about because Andrew and Mangdoongi joined me in bed and were barking me awake.

“Alright already guys. I’m up, I’m up.” I said as I sat up, giggling.

Both dogs went down my bed and out my bedroom when Changmin called them.

I got up and put on my robe before I stepped out into the living room. They’re all in the balcony, judging from where the sounds they were making were coming from.

When I joined them, the dogs were happily eating a few feet away from the table, and the table was laden with our favourite Mexican food.

“Let’s eat.” Changmin said.

I giggled.

“What’s so funny?”

“Nothing.” I said as I gave a little jump to kiss his cheek and then sat down.

When we finished eating, we cleared the table and cuddled in silence on my balcony.

“Baby?” He said.

“Hmm?”

“A business associate of mine invited me to the pre-opening party of his new resort. Will you go with me?”

“When is it?”

“Today at 4 o’clock. Everyone has to be in their swimwear.”

“Hmm. It’s been a while since we went to a resort.” I stopped for a bit to think.

This party could help me relax. I thought.

“Okay, I’m game. But I need to buy a new swimsuit.” I said as I got up.

“Where are you going?” He asked.

“I’m going to take a bath, we’re going swimwear shopping.”

“Can I join you?” He asked innocently.

“In your dreams pal.” I said as I stuck out my tongue to him before running to my bathroom.

Before we headed for the shopping district, we dropped-off Andrew and Mangdoongi at his sister’s condo unit.
