4.2.6 - What makes you angry?
If Audrey had the desire to change occupations, again, then she would choose to become a fortune teller. She decided this after her prediction of dinner with Dallas, Teagan, and Leon was fulfilled even to the last painful second. Needless to say, the night was absolutely dreadful.
When they weren’t awkwardly shifting their food around their plates, Dallas and Audrey were arguing, which happened for the majority of the night. At first it was light distasteful comments towards each other. Their punch lines revolved around Dallas having feelings for his late brothers fiancée, and Audrey using him as a rebound. It went downhill from there.
Dallas had few too many glasses of wine, and Audrey’s anger was released on her steak. Before Teagan and Leon could interfere, the editor and dancer began yelling at each other. The chaos grew to a point, that the group of four were asked to leave. Leon, and Teagan regretted even thinking the couple could have a causal meal together.
The group divided. Teagan with Audrey, while Leon lead an intoxicated Dallas to his car. It had been a few days since the horrendous reunion, yet Audrey was still pissed off. She was angry at everything. Dallas, Herself, she was even furious at Leon and Teagan for setting her up for failure.
Deciding, that the only person that could calm her down was Noah, she stepped onto his front porch, and pressed a finger against the doorbell. She dying to see him, and Zoey. Taking a step back, she brushed her hands against her pants, and waited.
A few minutes passed, and the door still hadn’t opened. Maybe he wasn’t home. Frowning, she turned on her heels, and began to walk down the steps, but stopped as she realised a female standing by her car, staring directly at her.
Awkwardly, Audrey glanced around. Thinking that maybe the unfamiliar individual was looking at something else, but no, it was clear that she was staring at her. “Hi, um, can I help you?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I was just passing by to drop off something at this residence, but since it appears that the person who lives here isn’t home. I’ll just stop by later.” The woman explained with a small smile. She extended her hand out towards Audrey, once she was within arms distance. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. My name’s Kendal.”
“Kendal? As in ‘the-ignorant-bitch-who-wants-to-take-Noah’s-daughter’ Kendal?” Audrey asked for conformation.
Kendal impatiently rolled her eyes, biting her lower lip, before an odd smirk spread across her lips. “I’m guessing, you’ve heard all about me?”
“I‘ve heard enough.” She responded, moving towards the drivers side of her car. She really didn’t have the time or patients to deal with Kendal.
“It must be difficult having to date someone who has absolutely no time for you?”
“As hard as it is for you to believe, Kendal. Having a child is time consuming, especially when you’re a single parent.” Audrey said contemptuously, pulling her car door open. “And what do you want? You weren’t in his life for almost a year. Noah has enough on his plate as it is, and now you want to sue him for Zoey. You can’t. This has to be an act of desperation, because you just can’t wrap your head around that fact that he’s moved on without you. Grow the fuck up and leave him the hell alone.” Audrey wanted to shake some sense into Kendal.
Kendal was highly amused by Audrey’s every word, and that just added fuel to the fire.
“Are you finished? Didn’t it feel nice to get that off of your shoulders? Now, the thing is, Aubrey. Once the ‘honeymoon’ faze is over in your relationship, your going to realize how much of a pathetic fool Noah is.”
“It’s Audrey.” She corrected, shaking her head. The rage that boiled through her veins fuelled her to want to punch Kendal in the face, but the fact the bitch was pregnant was enough for Audrey to keep her fists unclenched.
Something clicked in Audrey’s head once she realized that Kendal wasn’t large. In fact, she didn’t look pregnant at all. She must’ve given birth to her child recently. “What did you want to give to Noah?”
“A few pictures of my son.” Kendal said.
That completely blew Audrey’s mind. Without a doubt, it was probably the most arrogant thing she’s heard anyone say. Unfortunately, she let her anger get the best of her, and after taking a few strides towards Kendal, she backhanded her. The gesture shocked them both as Kendal clutched her tender cheek, her eyes wide staring at Audrey in disbelief.
“I don’t know what makes you think you can waltz in here, and act like you understand Noah, and own Zoey, but you don’t, and I’m not taking this bullshit anymore. I’m not going to let you flaunt your ‘perfect’ life in his face anymore.” Audrey spat, her body shaking with anger.
Kendal didn’t know what was harder: forcing herself to look at Audrey, or the forced smile she presented. “Fine, whatever.” She murmured, her hand still pressed against her ginger cheek. Before Audrey could say another word, Kendal was inside her car, and drove away.
Muffled by her hands, Audrey cursed loudly, regretting hitting Kendal. Although it felt pretty damn good, she was scared, and unsure of the results her actions would cause. Although, one thing she was sure of was the fact that she needed to speak to Noah, and tell him exactly what happened.
