176 Autumn in a blue moon

19 December 2009- There was once a wicked witch in Narnia, who made it always Winter and never Christmas. Where I live perhaps resides her double: except she has made it always Summer and nothing else. Today, though, is a stolen moment of an Autumn drizzle, a rare gift for cuddling luxuriously under coats and blankets. Shall we dress up as Arctic explorers, or make believe it is New York in September? "This should be exciting enough without pretending," said Peter (Lewis, 1950, p. 54). And so it was.

Leaving off the ostentatious fur and thigh-high boots, I greet the rain in a trench coat styled dress. Beneath my coat the flowers on my skirt shyly peer out, while Temptation, this lovely lacy camisole, modestly hides herself from mischief with a capital M.

With the rain steadily trickling on, a couple of doodle lines have blossomed into beautiful flowers.

"On a day such as this," said Coco Miss Bear, "You ought to take my camera with you." And although I tried to assure her it was horrid weather for taking pictures, she promptly set her little camera down upon my finger.

Presently Edmund said, "Let's get out, the rain is gone."
I round off the last stanza of my ode to Autumn with a maple leaf pinned to the collar of my coat.
"So where are we going anyway?" began Susan (Lewis, 1950, p. 55).
"To Yushkin and his son, Vladimir," I replied. We set off toward the watchmaker with a gold box full of butterflies and my maple leaf brooch.
