Happy New Year!

So far, not worse than 2006.  But then again, not much could be.  I'm not going to post my resolutions or anything, because that never works out for me.  I never seem to meet any goals that I tell everyone about.  A bit like birthday wishes I guess.  So, I think I'll take advantage of the post private feature so that I will at least know where my list of goals for myself is.  We'll see how I do this year.

I pretty much did nothing on New Year's Eve, which was nice after the chaos of December. We had a nice dinner, but it was food we could have had any time of the year, so no big deal.  I basically spent the day finishing up my rewatch of season one of Veronica Mars, which I started after finally watching all of season two and what's been shown of season three.  I was able to get the entirety of season two watched while we were in NC, despite our extremely full schedule, thanks to my Dad's portable DVD player.  It felt weird not listening to music in the car like I usually do, but the show was so engrossing that I didn't mind breaking my tradition for once.  And then when we got home, I watched three or four season three episodes, and watched the rest the next day.  I'd forgotten how much I love that show.  I wish I'd known new episodes don't start for like three weeks, cause I would've saved some of season three for later.  Oh well.

Aside from spending the year trying to declutter, and attempting to choose a wall calendar, I've been having jaw problems again.  Joy!  Previously, I had TMJ (stands for tempro mandibular joint, which is the one effected) on the right side of my jaw, which caused it to get locked up to a point where I'd have to pop my lower jaw to the side before I could open my mouth to eat.  About five years ago (nearly to the day) I had surgery on the right side, which fixed it wonderfully, and I've had pretty much no problems since then (aside from minor pain a couple of times).  The surgery basically fixes the disc that's in the joint in its correct place, since it slipping causes the lock jaw and clicking sounds and stuff like that.  It's a super easy, minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopic, so no visible scars, either!), and I'd recommend it to anyone.

The right side is, as I mentioned, totally fine.  The left side, however, would always click when I opened and shut my mouth, but both the oral surgeon and my dentist said it was no big deal.  Then, the night before last I was experiencing tightness to where I couldn't open my mouth more than about the width of one and a half fingers.  When I woke up yesterday, that had gone away, but it reappeared late yesterday evening.  This time, I could open as wide as I wanted to, but couldn't close all the way.  Unless, of course, I moved my lower jaw forward so that my bottom teeth were in front of the top teeth.

That didn't really go away when I went to sleep last night.  I woke up being able to close all the way, but there was discomfort.  It basically tightened up as the time wore on, and now it's back to the same.  And there's a weird feeling in my ear and my throat is sore on that side, but I'm sure that's due to whatever's going on with the jaw.  I'm going to call my dentist, since I have to get my teeth cleaned anyway, and see if he can help me.  I am not overjoyed with the thought of potentially having to get surgery on the left side, but as I said, it was a super easy surgery, so if I have to do it, I totally will.  We'll see what the dentist says.  Until then, I will eat soft foods.  Slowly.

Now, it's off to bed for me, since tomorrow morning we're leaving for NYC to see a play!  I don't think we've been to one in almost two years, which seems like forever.  We're going to a matinée of "Suddenly Last Summer", which is a Tennessee Williams play starring Blythe Danner, Carla Gugino, and...Gale Harold!  Yay!  It sounds awesome, and I can't wait.

I'm taking Grey's Anatomy Season Two with me in the car so I can finally finish the episodes I missed, so if I don't post tomorrow, that means I'm caught up in a season three marathon.  Definitely more later, though.
