So, it's that time again, for another one of those "yeah it's been a while, I'm not dead" posts. I am just not good at this updating consistently thing, and I feel kind of weird just posting without recognizing that fact. I don't even know. I have been around, though, occasionally commenting, but mostly on twitter since that requires way less brain power and effort, and life hasn't been going that great these past few months, so there hasn't really been that I've wanted to make the effort to post about. However, things are starting to look up, got an interview on Friday and everything, so I figured I'd check in with you all. Hopefully RL will continue to be better, because I would really love to not be so stressed out all of the time, and it would be great to actually be in a mood to want to post about it more, and to actually be motivated to make some of the fandom-y posts I've been pondering.
To that end, as you guys may or may not know, Torchwood S4 starts on Friday (OMGYAY!), and I've been rewatching Children of Earth in preparation. Granted, I only watched it for the first time a couple of months ago, but I've been thinking about it a lot since then, so I figured a rewatch was in order so I could get all of my thoughts down. And there are a lot of thoughts. I have been watching an episode a day for the past couple of days, and I plan to finish it up tomorrow and post about it then, or more likely Thursday, since I have a feeling I'll need the day to decompress and polish my thoughts into something resembling orderly. I know, only two years after it aired, right? I figure that means very few people will actually care, but it's my LJ, so I'll do what I like. If you do care, I'd love to talk with you about it, though. Or about the new season once it starts airing. 10pm on Fridays on Starz, for those who don't know
I mean, it's not like I even starting watching Doctor Who until the beginning of this year, and it took me a while to decide to actually watch Torchwood after that whole kerfluffle that happened two years ago. It was pretty much RTD's comments and behavior towards fans that turned me off watching Doctor Who in the first place, because I didn't really want to become a fan of something he was the showrunner of. Thankfully I was peer pressured into watching series five, because I adore Doctor Who, and would have been really sad to never have it in my life. Doesn't change my opinion that RTD is kind of a dick, though. But more (yeah, it's a whole thing) on that later.
Right now, it's time to clean my apartment and shower, since I have to take the cat to the vet this afternoon. So not looking forward to that, since Lily hates both the car and the vet's, so she will not be fun to get into the carrier. At least she probably won't have to take any pills, since she's not sick, because I don't think she'd forgive me after the last time.
Before I go, though, I have music recs! First off, the new Cobra Starship song,
You Make Me Feel... feat. Sabi, which is so super catchy, I can't even. I'm not sure I really like it as a Cobras song, but it's a pretty good pop song. And
the video's pretty great, too (with some excellent cameos). I prefer the other song that's leaked off their new record,
Don't Blame The World (or whatever the final title will be; this is a demo), because it feels more in keeping with their style, and less like a more generic pop song with guest vocals by Gabe. So, what I'm saying is that even if you hated Hot Mess, you should download this one, because it's pretty damn great.
And then...okay, I'm not really a fan of True Blood anymore (watched the first season, but was never interested enough to continue past that), but they apparently do this neat thing where all of their episode titles are song titles, and the music supervisor features some interesting version of said song in the relevant episode. So the season premiere was called "She's Not There", and they recorded a cover of The Zombies' song for it, by two of the most unlikely duet partners: Neko Case and Nick Cave. And it is amazing. It's got this awesome kind of eerie creole/zydeco-esque arrangement, and Neko and Nick Cave sound kind of amazing together. This is seriously a must listen, guys, especially if you like either of these artists. Download it

Ugh, time to clean, I guess. Catch you all later!
