Shutterday photomeme on Saturday. This is a tough one since I tend to avoid taking pictures that show poverty wherever I see it. Somehow I feel that taking a photo would be robbing the person or people from their dignity.
I had a look through my photos to see if I could find something appropriate... I found this photo I took in January 2007, when I was flying back from Morocco.
You can not see the poverty from way up in the air. Sadly, it is there. This is the
Strait of Gibraltar. Countless people have lost their life here, trying to escape poverty in Africa to enter Europe illegally in the hope of a better life. Some make it in Europe, some encounter a different kind of poverty, some are caught along the way and some loose their most precious possession, their life.
