it hurts and its heavy

Well, in the quest to end the financial plummet of late, I've gotten myself 2 (entirely unrelated) jobs. The first is working in the pediatric EEG (epilepsy patients) at the Children's Hospital and the other is Starbucks. Obviously these jobs are equally fulfilling. Let's review.

At (a painful) 9:00am I found myself downtown at the hoity-toity Chicago Starbucks Headquarters. I listened until 1:30 to them preach about all the ways Starbucks is the diamond in the rough of the corporate ways, and moreover saving the world one excruciating coffee bean at a time. But don't worry, they assured us it wasn't propaganda. Phew.

Then, come 10:00pm, I meander into the hospital wondering how I am possibly going to make it until 4am (answer still pending). You can imagine about how fried I'm thinking my mind is at this point... and the yahoo! crossword puzzles are increasingly annoying. Well, almost just to have something to do, I swung around to check on my patients and realized I had to do work for the very first time since I've started here. As I replaced an EKG (I won't bother w/ the details), the 5 year old angel in the bed looked at me with his big brown eyes and asked me to please take everything off of him because he didn't like all the electrodes on his head. And bam. In 3 seconds he struck me 110% more effectively than the five-hour brainwashing attempt of Starbucks (and he didn't have the aid of the cheesy music). Oh my heart.

I have to wonder if I'm really cut out for this. Just as I have been writing this that baby had two seizures.

Oh my heart.
