A few weeks ago Craig the guy who lives in the one bedroom flat underneath the flat I'm in mentioned that he sometimes hears a strange humming sort of sound at night and he wondered if I knew what it might be

I think if you have super hearing then you should never live underneath someone. I have driven people crazy just by walking around in my place yet when I ask the new occupants if there are any problems they say they can't hear a thing. Moral of the story: always live on the top floor.

I can pick up low frequencies sometimes. Normally sounds like I've just poured a litre of water into my ear. Can't say I've ever complained about it though....

Although I had to complain last night when the flattie made cheese toastys and stunk the whole flat our for about 5 hours. It really was gross... Yeah thats my nose, not my ears but I was on a roll.

Ah yes flatties and their weird cooking practices. The best ones are those who come home to cook up some road kill or similar with some incredibly strong curry solutuion, stink the place out then take off for a few days.
