movies that i want to seeee
So I've been in Japan for the last 6 months (going on 7) and I've seen approximately 1 movie in the theater. I intend to overcompensate for that when I get back - both through Netflix and through going to see a lot of movies in the theater in the summer months. Here's what I want to see:
Harold and Kumar 2 - Coming out practically right after I get back. I loved the first one, as did most everyone I know. The sequel could hit or miss - they're putting it out in April, which is never too fantastic a month for new releases - but based on how awesome the last one was, I'm ready to see this one pretty much immediately.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Looks like a pretty normal romantic comedy, but it's from the Apatow crew, who've basically shown me that they can do almost anything, and can be pretty raunchy when they want to be. Plus: Kristen Bell in a bikini.
Iron Man - Despite me knowing little to nothing about the main character (other than he's a drunk asshole) this is one of my most anticipated movies of the summer. And who better to play the drunk asshole than Robert Downey Jr.?
Speed Racer - The visuals alone have sold me. It could be complete crap (chances are it will be) but it's gonna look so pretty. Especially Matthew Fox....
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Um. Do I really need to say anything? It's Indiana Jones.
The Incredible Hulk - Okay, so they replaced both Bruce Banner and Betsy Ross (shame on that last one) but Ed Norton's pretty good and there are supposedly crossovers from Iron Man, and I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. No trailer yet, which is surprising. This may be a pass... hopefully there are no mutant poodles.
Get Smart - Another maybe. Love Carell in The Office and love looking at Anne Hathaway, but I'm not entirely sure about this one. The Rock is always pretty funny in comedic roles (he and Andre 3000 were the saving graces of Be Cool) and I like the original franchise, but... I'm still not ENTIRELY sold on this just yet.
Wall-E - I will watch anything that Pixar puts out. I think I proved that with Cars. Still, a movie that heavily lacks dialog and is about a tiny robot? Seriously, if this rules there's nothing they can't do.
Hancock - Will Smith playing an asshole superhero? With Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron (Michael and Rita back together again)! Yeah, I think I'll see this.
Hellboy 2 - What can I say? I liked the first one. Guillermo del Toro is great, too. Also: Jeffrey Tambor. Still, this is just superhero warmup for...
The Dark Knight - If you're not excited for this movie, I'm not sure I can count you as a friend.
Pineapple Express - A stoner flick from the Apatow peepz, James Franco is hilarious and I basically just like the idea of a stoner action movie. (ps watch the red band trailer)
Also, I'm still not sure what's going on with the X-Files movie, but if that gets released in July I would like to see that as well. Mulder and Scully rule.
So yeah, this looks like a good summer for movies. Practically something every week!
