CPAP

I picked up and was fitted for my CPAP yesterday. In the lab I tried the full face mask (over nose and mouth) and it aggravated my mild TMD (Temporomandibular disorder) by almost locking my jaw. My doctor recommended nasal pillow mask over the full face so that's what I got. It tickled my nose a little and will take some getting used to. The technician who fitted me had to make some adjustments to the machine because when he first had me wear it while turned on I couldn't breathe out.

I got it home and set it up making some minor rearrangements to my stuff in the headboard. I still not sure what to do with all the excess lengths of tubing. It took me a little while to fall asleep with this strange thing strapped to my face. I woke up at 2 am with a soggy head. I have occasional night sweats (I think my hormones are out of balance) but usually it's just the back of my head and my shoulders. Even with minimal head straps my face was sweaty especially my upper lip just under my nose. If I don't stop sweating or can't find a way to put a bit of cloth there I'm going to end up with face rash akin to diaper rash.

I woke up at 5:30 soggy again. It was time to feed the pets so I got up and did so. I went back to bed at 6:30 and decided not to wear the mask. At 7:00 Chalain told me I was snoring so I went downstairs to sleep on the couch. Our cat BamBam decided it was play time and made just enough noise to keep me from falling all the way asleep. When Chalain came down at 8:30 I gave up trying to sleep.

I'm exhausted. After having air forced into my lungs all night breathing on my own now seems difficult. Chalain says this is typical for the first couple of days. I may never come to love my CPAP they way Chalain does but I hope I'll get used to it soon.
