Things beginning with "B" - a meme from several people including

Something I hate: Burnt toast. It's just horrible and there's no saving it. Even if you scrape off all the black, the burnt taste still pervades it and makes it taste horrible. This was the subject of many an argument at the breakfast table as a child as wasting what my mother viewed as perfectly edible toast did not go down well. I'd far rather have only slightly done toast than have it even slightly going over into too well done. I also like to have my toast hot when the butter goes on. Butter should melt into the toast, not stay solid on top and it does have to be butter not marg. I don't mind eating toast which has gone cold, provided the butter melted onto it while it was hot though.
Something I love: Black metal, specifically melodic black metal. Ghost being a wonderful example of this. I guess that answer was no surprise, but I could have also said bacon, which again I doubt would have been a surprise. In fact I'm struggling to think of something I like beginning with a 'B' which wouldn't be obvious, baking, nope, black clothes, nope, Blake's 7 nope...
Somewhere I've been: Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, back in January 1999 as part of our honeymoon. We stayed in a very nice hotel which cost us £25 a night the first night and £9 the second. Our budget was limited and so we couldn't afford 2 nights at £25. When they found out why they were checking out they gave us the rate for Zimbabweans rather than foreign tourists, which meant that between the 2 nights we actually paid the rate for Africans other than Zimbabweans - which they justified since Bacchus was born in Jo'berg. On the first night in the hotel we had a very posh 3 course meal with wine, including tip it cost the princely sum of £12. We later found out that was more than a month's wages for our tour guide, so it was indeed a princely sum. The second day we visited the Matobo National Park and saw Rhodes' grave at the World's View. The view is indeed spectacular, and the rocks were crawling with the most beautiful iridescent lizards with translucent pink tongues. We poured water into some of the crevices and watched as they swarmed to drink. For lunch we ate in a local fast food restaurant where we stuffed ourselves for 70p. Again though, this was a price well out of reach of the average person living there :-(
Somewhere I'd like to go: Belize, for the diving, on both it's very own Barrier Reef and the Great Blue Hole.
Someone I know: Barry Scott. Not the Barry Scott from the adverts, but someone who has the misfortune to share their name with him. If you ever meet him, which is unlikely, he doesn't like mentions of certain cleaning products in his presence, or illusions to certain adverts. Can't think why...
A film I like: Blade. Probably again not much surprise, vampires, horror, all pretty much up my street. I saw this at the Lake's Multiplex Cinema in Bowness on screen 3, which had a screen smaller than a lot of people's TVs these days. This was back when I had a free cinema pass for one film a week as a perk of advertising in the cinema's quarterly magazine. I was with my friend Glassblower, who really doesn't do horror at all. She gripped my arm very tightly during the opening scenes :-) I won't spoiler it, even though I'm sure there can't be that many people who haven't already seen it, all I'll say is those opening scenes in the disco are probably one my all time favourite opening sequences to a film :-)
I'm sure everyone who wants to do this already has, but comment if you want an approximately-randomly-chosen letter ...
