so my lovely hauyu and i spent the day together. chinatown, soho, jamba juice and the time warner building, stalking the guy at A/X, 34th st, and RENT.
it was amazing, as always. the cast was alot different though. the first time i saw it, it was very close to the soundtrack and thus close to the original. this time, the cast was on crack or something. they mixed it up a bit which was good and bad. luckily i know the songs aka most of the script by heart so i didnt have trouble understanding but there were times where it was hard to understand what the actors were saying/singing.
cary shields was roger. he had a very nasally voice. it was okay but the original roger is hard to beat.
this other chick was mimi, who was MUCHHHHHH better than the spice girl when i saw it the first time.
the guy who was angel this time, i actually thought was better than jai rodriguez. but i dont really remember jay's performance. this guy was on speed and it was amazing, especially with those wands
la vie boheme wasnt that great this time because the voices didnt blend very well together, particularly mark's and maureen's.
frenchie davis was there this time. im a bit ambivalent. she has a very strong voice, but she didnt hit the notes she way it shouldve been--esp in seasons on love
ahh but whatever, im being too critical. an actor's supposed to brign variety anyway. oh yeah it was a packed house which sucked cuz i wanted to move up. at least i got autographs!
