A little bit about being back

Things are pretty good here. Remembering the same old headaches, but also basking in the pleasures of the good things. Traffic, trash, pollution, and bureaucracy being among the most annoying. The first three seem to be worse than I remember it being, but that is probably because we are living in Iajia's house, outside the city- and I have never liked that-- we were in an apartment inside the city in a nice neighborhood before- it was a lot better. But it is a sacrifice I am willing to make for now. We are in our own place, that we OWN, so there is a lot to be said about that. Though I do suppose trash is worse... apparently one of the city dumps closed down, so there are area where people are literally getting NO trash service. Can you imagine? It would be one thing if some like that happened where the ratio of people to square mile was small, but here it is high. Fortunately, we are getting trash pick up, but we have driven through areas where we were like, WTH? But now we know why it's like that. I really wish we could live in a place NOT Mexico City or Kansas City... Mexico City for all the headaches that big city life bring and not KC because it is cold and boring. But that is where we have our families, so it's a big trade off. But if we could even live in a nice edge of the city, like Xochimilico... that would be perfect!!! Though it could be a long commute to work for Iajia. Xochimilico is a southern "county" right on the edge of DF... in fact, it use to be its own city until DF finally bumped into it. It would be at the edge of the foothills there towards that volcanoe.

Iajia and I have decided that if I get the job offer in January, I am going to take it. Noori and I will go back to Kansas, I will find him a preschool or daycare while I work. Iajia will stay in Mexico and continue looking for work. I think him being back in Mexico has made him realize what I have realized for a while. He was getting depressed and withdrawn in the states. He lost a lot of confidence. I know that being in Mexico is the best for him. And it is probably pretty decent for me too. And it is best for us as a family. But I will come back to the states because someone has to have a job. And making that extra income for awhile will help us tremendously. Also, I am fully covered health care wise in Kansas so that is another reason to go back for the birth. Once he starts working... it would be great if we are both making an income for a while- and he can get everything in better order than it is, and then maybe we can come back in the summer as one big, happy ESTABLISHED family.
