Chapter 4 Chapter 5
It was the late afternoon when Jaejoong found himself lying on the sofa in the coffee room with a blanket sliding off his legs.
Strangely, he had dreamt of Jung Yunho confessing his crimes and his desire to mangle him flirtatiously. Though with his squad huddling around the coffee machine and flipping through the documents, Jaejoong could assume Jung Yunho did not make any confession just yet. Even better, he wasn’t mangled-or at least he hoped that was true.
It only took him ten seconds to realize Changmin was also in the room and he was serving himself a cup of coffee until he started bickering with Junsu about some manners he should acquire or something. Jaejoong wasn’t too sure what it was because Hyunjoong handed him the documents for Kim Heechul’s case along with some coffee.
“Thanks” he quietly muttered, his morning voice still puncturing his vocal cords and he took a sip of his coffee.
“Jung Yunho was transferred to his cell an hour ago. You missed the frown on his face.” Hyunjoong told him and Jaejoong could only imagine what was going through the other’s head as he landed himself in temporary jail time. “We also brought Changmin per the chief’s request because of last time.”
Jaejoong nodded. It was only reasonable to bring Shim Changmin into their office instead of going to the laboratory due of the last incident, where they lost evidence of their notorious drug along with their clue to finding the criminal and the cause of the drug’s side effects.
Although, thanks to a certain Jung Yunho, they could commence with their investigation, however, they have another case to resolve and that being Kim Heechul’s case.
The case in itself didn’t look out of the ordinary in Jaejoong’s eyes. The details were those of an attempted suicide, but also of a homicide, considering the CCTV camera they were able to obtain also led to Jung Yunho’s suspicions.
Now he just needed to get him to talk.
Talk like there’s no tomorrow because Jaejoong wants to end this case as soon as possible. Hopefully soon, considering they have been going left and right to search for the drug and then the drug dealer.
Though, there was still the slight suspicion that Jung Yunho did not do it when he encountered him at the bar and in the alleyway.
“I didn’t do it Jae and I still need to find the culprit who framed me. I can’t let you catch me yet.”
Jung Yunho made a confession at that time.
Why couldn’t he do it now? Even if it’s just to save his tail from years of jail time, why can’t he say who?
Unless it was someone he knew closely.
“Hyunjoong” Jaejoong called out to the other man, interrupting his conversation with Junsu.
“Yes?”
“Do you have Jung Yunho’s background information and all the people he’s affiliated with? I need to double check something.”
Slowly, Hyunjoong gave a nod, not really understanding what the lieutenant would be looking for, however he walked to his desk relentlessly and searched through the pile of papers until he found the document he was looking for.
He handed it to Jaejoong and the lieutenant took it hastily, murmuring a simple quick ‘thanks’ while Hyunjoong observed him closely.
Skimming the paper, the lieutenant looked at it page by page until he was up to the individuals with relationship to Jung Yunho, excluding his family because sadly, it seems he hasn’t had any connection with them for a long time.
There was also a list of college friends but it was practically the entire university population because unfortunately, Jung Yunho was a player back in his day and Jaejoong remembered it vividly when he read through the list. Some with horrible memories or incidents, he notice did in fact happened till the police academy and his own name was listed there was well.
None of the names look relatively suspicious and it was beginning to look pointless as he searched through the names, however it shocked the lieutenant even more when he spotted a familiar name.
Kim Heechul.
College friend.
And that’s when it hit Jaejoong when he realize, they had indeed met a Kim Heechul back in college, however he wasn’t sure if it was the Kim Heechul who his squad is currently investigating about.
Even so, it was a really small possible chance but Jaejoong thought he should give it another try.
“I’m going to Jung Yunho’s cell. There’s something I haven’t finished asking him.” He summed and Junsu and Yoochun came out of the coffee break room.
“What about us?” Junsu question while Yoochun gulped at him wearily and the lieutenant only spared them each a glance before saying.
“You two stay here. Set up the materials for Changmin to investigate the drug. I’m sure he’ll need them and there should be results when I get back.” He ordered and the other two gave him a ‘yes sir’ and then scrambled to set up the equipment because if anything, they all knew Shim Changmin was one hell of a picky guy.
“And me?” Hyunjoong asked curiously.
“Keep an eye on them” was the only thing Jaejoong suggested before he added, “and get me a report on the drug test.”
If it’s another thing he knew, it was that he could trust Hyunjoong to do all the things he had already listed and bring him a report on time.
Without further instructions or adieu, Jaejoong made his way to Jung Yunho’s cell, where he was currently kept under security for temporary jail time until his trial.

Once Jaejoong reached the cellar, where the majority of the prisoners was temporarily held in for trial or just for attempting a crime, such as drunk driving or caught snatching a purse from someone.
It wasn’t hard to find Jung Yunho’s cell because he had one for himself in a highly concealed room with absolutely no windows at all. It took a few moments for the lieutenant to make his entrance into the cellar after ordering the security guard to leave the room and allow him to question the prisoner all he wanted for the investigation.
Not long after, the security guard left and Jaejoong was alone with only a Jung Yunho staring at the wall in utter fascination- or just plain boredom.
Honestly, Jaejoong had wished he didn’t come because he was starting to sweat as he made an obvious cough to catch his former friend’s attention.
Luckily, Jung Yunho did turn and after spotting his former friend watching him in his cellar, he unconsciously straightened his back and looked at the other attentively.
Wearily, Jaejoong let out another cough and looked away because he couldn’t stand looking into those dark eyes of his former friend and decided to get straight to the point.
“S-so, you know Kim Heechul?” He asked, a bit on the stuttering side but he’d manage somehow. Even though he wasn’t looking at Jung Yunho, he could tell the other was boring his eyes into him very intently and the lieutenant pretended to ignore it.
Just before he could ask him anything else, his cellphone rang and Jaejoong left the cellar, telling the security guard to go back in while he answered his call.
“Hello?”
“Hyung!” It was Junsu’s voice.”There are officers here and they said they have been dispatched to take over our case. They’re even taking our papers! Come quickly!”
“I’m on my way!” He shouted into the phone and broke into a sprint.
However, he didn’t bother to hang up his phone and he didn’t care because someone was taking his case and he wasn’t going to let that happen.

“Wait, what?” the lieutenant’s eyes grew wider at the news.
“We’re going to transfer the Kim Heechul’s case to squad five and they’ll close the case with Jung Yunho as the murderer in homicide.” One of the officers recited as if told that was precisely the words of someone from the higher-ups.
Shit. They’re planning to scapegoat him.
“But Kim Jongwoon had given me consent to take charge of the case.” Jaejoong countered. He was standing right outside his office and hoped his statement would pull through since he was technically in charge of a drug case and a murder case, which probably has a small possible chance of being related to the drug incidents.
“This is an order from Park Jungsoo, the director of the head chief in the criminal department.”
Jaejoong gulped and cursed inwardly.
Fuck.
If it’s an order from the director then that would mean anything Kim Jongwoon had said will be overwritten unless he has the other chief officers’ consent, which are impossible to obtain in such limited time since the order for Kim Heechul’s case had already been discharged.
“Wait, but the case hasn’t been fully invest- “
“The chief is going to make a closing statement today in the conference room and he said to transfer Jung Yunho as soon as possible.” The officer finished before shoving the lieutenant aside and headed towards the cellar where Jaejoong had recently left.
“Shit!” He cursed aloud, taking out his phone and dialing Junsu’s number. “Hyung! Where are yo- “
“Did another squad take the case of Kim Heechul?” Jaejoong hurriedly asked and Junsu didn’t hesitate to tell him what happened. “They took everything and they said Park Jungsoo had given them permission to overtake the case. They’re even planning to close it. What do we do?” He finished and Jaejoong cursed again.
“Just continue with Changmin on the drug. I’m going to convince the head chief to overwrite it.”
He hung up quickly, not waiting for a moment for Junsu to response and he ran to the chief’s office.
Hopefully he wasn’t too late or he’d be losing everything.
Even his former friend.

The conference room was full when Park Jungsoo made his entrance. Proud to be one of the speakers for the cases and to close them as quickly as possible before the public will think the police are stalling. It didn’t help that a celebrity star had just committed suicide, thus leading to more suicide attempt of fans that followed the star or even causing havoc in front of the police headquarters.
It didn’t matter as much, Jungsoo thought but in order to calm the agony of the public, he needed to open up the press conference and lock Jung Yunho up for good.
Once the set-up had finished and the cameraman had pointed out the recording countdown, Jungsoo took a deep breath, however, just as he was about to utter a word the powerpoint screen turned on.
A video popped up, angling at a position with someone talking to a person hidden in the dark side of the room, while the other was looking through cabinets until he spotted the person in the dark.
It was Kim Heechul.
He was talking to the person in the dark. The blurry quality showed that the other person was wearing a cap with his eyes covered and lips moving- speaking to Kim Heechul inaudibly and handed him a bottle that looked like the medication bottle at the crime scene, in which the idol took hastily.
There was nothing about it that looked suspicious until Kim Heechul opened the bottle and poured all of the pills into his mouth willingly while the anonymous person looked at him with a smirk.
It took a few seconds when everyone noticed what was happening because in a blink of an eye, Kim Heechul collapsed onto the ground and the person he was speaking to had only stayed in that position until he had pulled the idol’s body away from the CCTV camera angle.
The screen went black as the room went agape and the questions came endlessly.

The doors to Jung Yunho’s cellar opened and Yunho didn’t do anything particularly until the people were right up to his cell and then he noticed them gazing down on him.
“Jung Yunho, you’re coming with us and don’t you dare try anything funny or we’re going to relocate you permanently and you’ll never be able to show your face to the outside world ever again.”
A/N: Oh gawd, I totally forgot about updating this one.
