RUNDOWN OF STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES: When Chad was alive he was, for all appearances, a nice guy who liked to throw house parties and be surrounded by friends and family. He was absolutely head over heels for his long-term partner Patrick, and wanted to raise a child with him. When he's at his best he's loyal, loving, thoughtful, creative, and charming.

However, Chad isn't without failings. He strongly believes that beauty is vitally important, and he's driven to contribute as much as he can to his surroundings. As such, he's a meticulous perfectionist, and will become furious if anyone ruins his carefully thought out plans. His perfectionism doesn't only apply to places, but to people. He judges no one more harshly than himself, though, and has a very skewed self-image. Any slight physical imperfection is a source of torment for him to the point that he sometimes can't leave the house.

His self-consciousness can also breed jealousy. He never entirely accepted that Patrick wasn't "out of his league", and so is always on the look out for someone trying to take him away. When Patrick did begin to stray, Chad made an agreement with him that they simply wouldn't discuss it, in part because Chad didn't want the discussions to end in a break up no matter how much it bothered him that Patrick was cheating. Even with all the arguments they were having over money and the thing they weren't supposed to discuss, Chad was still devoted to making their relationship work and get back on track... unfortunately, he and Pat were murdered just before Halloween 2010.

People in the Murder House don't stay dead, though, and Chad is currently a corporeal spirit who 'lives' in the basement where he was killed. His mindset is stuck in the place it was when he died; in love with a man who leaves him and cheats on him, and watching his perfect house rearranged and changed without any power to stop it.

ANY OTHER IMPORTANT INFO: Chad will be doing anything in his power to spruce up the place.

Solitary
Chad had never been a rebellious sort of person. He'd been to detention once in all of his time at school for failing to get inside the classroom door before the bell rang, an he'd bawled so hard that he had to be sent to the nurse before he hyperventilated. So, it was against his very nature to argue with the guards the way he had, to throw things at the wall, to refuse to participate, to refuse to eat, but he needed it.

He needed a reprieve.

The prison was so ugly, so barren. Any attempts Chad made to improve his environment had been in vain. His clothing was rough and ill-fitting. He had none of his myriad face and hand creams. He couldn't even touch his own hair, it felt so coarse even against his increasingly rough hands.

At least in solitary, he only had one small room, one bed, one toilet. The ugliness of the place, and the ugliness that was beginning to transform his body, still pressed him like a weight, but at least here he didn't have to see it. Here, he could sit perfectly still in the darkness, his legs folded under him and his hands resting on his knees, and it was almost as if all of it disappeared. Yes, he could feel that the mattress was cheap, he could feel those horrible clothes clinging haphazardly to his dry skin. But he could imagine that he was surrounded by dark, rich woods, granite counter tops, the clean lines of a leather sofa. He could imagine that the sun would come up soon, and the light would filter through the hundred textures and colors of a Tiffany window. Patrick would be there to kiss him on his smooth, clear forehead and run his fingers through his soft hair.

When the light comes, though, it is a harsh electric yellow that lends a jaundiced pallor to the gray walls. Chad can see his hands, the jagged nails, the dry patches. His hair falls on his forehead as they drag him out, and it feels like a veil of dead grass.

His reprieve is over.
