Cosi di Fico

Today we made cosi di fico (Sicilian fig cakes). Italians make fig cookies this time of the year...it's just what we do. Most fig cookies I've seen are sort of Fig Newtonlike, with some families frosting and decorating the cookies. Impressive doesnt begin to describe it...holy moly. where do you get the figs? i have a meat grinder attachment to my hobart and since i dont cook cow i dont have a use for it...the fig thing would be perfect...

So now you know what I was talking about Saturday night :)

And a powered grinder sounds nice. Although dragging out the old grinder is fun.

I used to complain about how hard it is grinding things by hand (almonds especially). Then my mom reminded me they not only got stuck with the grinding task, but they had to crack the nuts themselves on top of everything else!
