Cosi di Fico

Today we made cosi di fico (Sicilian fig cakes). Italians make fig cookies this time of the year...it's just what we do. Most fig cookies I've seen are sort of Fig Newtonlike, with some families frosting and decorating the cookies. Wow, those are just...awesome. There's no other word for it. I may have to get the recipe from ya'll. For use after Christmas. I don't have time for it now.

Thanks! It takes some time, but it's keeping a tradition alive, and it's always fun seeing my mom tipsy... :)

The easy and quick way to make them is to kind of roll the dough out long, put a bunch of the fig filling on that, wrap the fig with the dough, and moosh it down a little. Then you just go along the log o' fig and cut things into smaller pieces.

Those look awesome! I definitely need the recipe. It's too much fun to have a day like that. Of course, my animals won't look quite so nice. And I love the slipper!

We'll be making plenty more this year...it's been over 5 years since we made them last.

It's relaxing and a lot of fun taking time to make them and chatting (and drinking :) ).

Impressive doesnt begin to describe it...holy moly. where do you get the figs? i have a meat grinder attachment to my hobart and since i dont cook cow i dont have a use for it...the fig thing would be perfect...
