Some people suck!
Ok, here's the deal. I'm doing some extra shifts in another library out of the goodness of my little heart. It doesn't benefit me in the least to do this, but I was willing to help out another branch.
Well, on Saturday I got there and told the person in charge that my insurance company can call at any time to tell me the estimate on the car that my son totaled. I had been there about 15 minutes and sure enough my cell rang. I asked another person to watch the desk so I could take the call. I reminded that wonderful gal in charge that I'll be on the phone for a bit with the insurance company. She kept walking by glaring at me and I just blew her off.
Today I get there and the building head comes up to me gushing about how happy they are that I'm there because they really needed the help and all. Then she said, "But there was a problem on Saturday. Amy said that you spent a long time on your cell phone." I told her about the car and the insurance company. She said that was fine after she found out what the deal was. I then told her that I'm sure I told Amy that I was going to be getting this phone call.
I'm pretty pissed right now though. First off, I'm there doing them a favor when I really don't have the time because of my car situation. Secondly, I kept the rental car for an extra day just to help them out. Third, I'm really pissed off at Amy for making an issue out of it when I told her that this is something I had to deal with.
I have half a mind to call them and cancel the rest of my shifts there. If the building head hadn't been so cool about it, I would have. But, Amy needs to stay very clear of me because I don't think she gets that I'm doing them the favor, not the other way around. This building is 25 miles from here and I'm not getting paid any extra to do it.
