In response to my
earlier post about whether to blog the daily minutiae of running a magazine, I had a surprising (and gratifying) number of positive responses. I received an awesome offer in response too, and I had to accept it. So here's what's happening:
Faith Hunter (aka
faithhunter) is one of four authors who contribute to
Magical Words, a blog website for "Writing tips and publishing advice for aspiring novelists". Faith also contributed
a great article to the first issue of Crossed Genres.
With the other authors' permission, Faith invited me to write a guest post for Magical Words about running a small press magazine. I'm crafting a sort of overview of the process, showing the arc from the beginning of a typical month to the end. It's going to be posted on Friday, April 10.
Because the post will cover an entire month there won't be room for a whole lot of minutiae - I could probably write an entire novel about the process of one issue if I tried, and I think that might be a little unwieldy for a blog post.
When the post is up, I'd like to ask everyone who expressed interest in the daily blogging (and more people too!) to go and read it, and comment/critique it. And if at that point enough people still want more - would still be interested in seeing the daily details that I simply won't have the space to get into in the post - then I'll go ahead and start the daily blog.
If nothing else, the post on April 10 will give a relatively complete look at the overall workload involved in producing a small-press magazine. I'll link to it here when it's up.
Thanks again for all the interest!

metafrantic and the CG mailing list)
